1000HE + tv output question

sorry if this sounds idiotic, but I tried google and can't come up with an answer..

question is: with the asus 1000HE, would I be able to use the vga out + a vga > rca adapter to output to (any)tv:
-firefox
-vlc
-google video
-youtube

I was about to place the order, but then I saw this and now I have no clue if it will work or not http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=62080


so.... is the 1000HE capable of doing this? or any other suggestions?
