In the pic below Ive rested the heatsinks on top, basically is that cooler big enough for the GPU? Those heatsinksa re fine for memory and i have a 60mm fan for that heatsink but is it good enough, i will post up a pic of the original cooler as well

i plan to use AS3 or 5 on the circle in middle of gpu and arctic alumina thermal epoxy on outside bit to hold cooler on

is this a good idea?

Thanks,
Craig

GPU Core, yellow marks where arctic siulver 3 or 5 will go and red marks alumina, memroy heatsinskw ill go on with alumina epoxy (makred in red) are the MOSFETs and DAC (is it a dac chip) chip marked in green worth cooling?

Yea, shopuld work, buit have you thought about going the drill holes int he heatsink route? I epoxied a heatsink on my geforce 3 ti 200, and I wish i hadn't.

other than that, looks good.

Well i have thought bout it but im only using epoxy around the edges of gpu core so should be easy to take off?

Otherwise I could use cable ties, easier than drilling.

I wouldnt epoxy the cooler on as you may one day one to swap it for a copper one, or water..

Even if you only epoxy the edges you are likely to damage the GPU trying to pull the heatsink off.

But that cooler will be an improovement over the stock one.

As there are holes in the card allready you should be able to bolt or tiewrap it on.

Yeha I intend to replaceit in future, zip ties it is somehow....

Thanks :D

It looks like it covers up the mounting holes though......so, how would you ziptie it without drilling holes in the heatsink?

just have em coming round round bottom, there will be enough space

Could you please post the pic of the card's backside until thursday, that would be grrrrrreeeeaaaat, because I'm going to rapair my card on friday or thursday if everything works out well! Anyway, thx in advance! Then, I'll perhaps have time to tinker with the voltmodding stuff.
And the best thing now is that I could even ask my university professors (or their assistent) for some help when volt modding because I study IT (InformationTechnology) in munich. Learning how circuitries work is part of my further studies. :) :toast:

celemine1Gig, sorry forgot all about it, will post up asap

Now running at 275/600 with AS3 on core and stock cooler and some thermal take memory heatsinks. As my zip ties are not big enough Im staying with my stock cooler for now. I have some 3DMakr scores saved which I will put up sometime.....just going for a bit higher first :D

Thx Craig! But would you mind posting a more detailed pic of the gpu area??

The pic you posted already helps a lot, but it would be absolutely outstanding if you could post a detailed pic of the backside gpu area, as the smd resistors and caps are so small, that it needs a very detailed pic to judge, which one to solder in as a replacement.

Again, thank you very much!

Well, well, well, what can I say? Just perfect man! Exactly the pic (the first one BTW) that I needed. Hope I'll be able to repair my GF4 tomorrow or the day after.

You really helped me BIGTIME!:toast:

BTW, if I get it to work again (or maybe even if I'm not successful), I'll see if I can borrow the digicam of a friend of mine and take some pics of my card as it looks so cool with the arcticooler attached to the GPU. :D

NP, anytime :) Hope you get it working!

Finally I found the time to try to repair my card.

BTW, that's how my card looks :D :

Nice, how is that cooler attached?

Craig

It's attached with thermal epoxy, because the cooler is quite lite.:)

Excellent, atm my card is susing stock GPU cooler with AS3 on GPOU though and those thermal take blue memory heatsinks epoxied on

Unfortunately I wasn't successful until today :(

But Yesterday, I removed all the 470µF 10V caps on the card and I'm going to replace them today with new ones. If this doesn't fix the artifact problem on that card, I don't know.
Wish me luck.
