Got a new router, and got new problems.

Works great, no problems with port forwarding. But now my systems can't see each other on the network! They can get online, but don't seem to exist between each other!

what os are you running on both of those systems?? Make sure you have all the software firewalls down.

Windows XP Pro, SP1, fully patched.

No firewalls of any kind up.

See, it worked fine on the old router (but the old router was defective, kept randomly failing to resolve DNS, and also refused to assign the computers a static IP for port forwarding) and i've changed nothing on the computers. So I figure it's the router.

All it really says about the router is that it's designed for a star topology with the router as the center.

The router is an 8/16-Poprt Hub, jw98 Ver 2.0. That's all the info the user's manual gives.

Tweaked!

So what brand is the router?

Doesn't say. Not even in it's own user manual!

Only says:
8/16-Poprt Hub, jw98 Ver 2.0

No contact info, no email, no website, no phone, nothing.
Talk about ultra-generic.

Still, it works good for a $20 16+1 port stackable hub with BNC and AUI. =3

is NetBIOS enabled?

Yep.

I've already checked all the software, all seemed fine. But I removed and reinstalled it all anyway. Still nothing.
