I just got a new Q9550 and I'm starting to overclock it on my P5Q Pro. I've got it right now passing the Linpack test at 8.5x440, 3740 Mhz, 1:1 with the ram, and I'm monitoring the temps with Real Temp. The temps are getting to a maximum of 74-70-72-72. At idle I'm at 44-27-37-40. My cooler is the Zigmatek 1283 with a 120mm Kamakaze fan. I'm wondering if this is too high and what kind of temps is everyone else getting with their overclocked Q9550? I usually run Prime95 and I noticed the readme file with IntelBurnTest says you can expect up to 22 deg. higher temps running linpack compared to Prime95, but not sure if this is too high. Thanks for any info.

Looks like you may have stuck sensors when idle. But from your readings in IBT they seem to be pretty even loaded out. A lot of the Intel 45nm CPU's have sensor issues but as long as its just at idle its nothing to worry about IMO. I've had three 45nm chips and all had at least 1 core with a stuck sensors. IBT will get your CPU pretty hot. My q9650 gets at least that hot running IBT but my q9550 hits around 62c to 65c depending on how high my wife decides to turn the thermostat.

After an hour of Prime95 Real Temp 65 51 61 61 maximum. I have to think that IntelBurnTest is causing a much higher temp than Pime95 as it said in the readme file.
