Voodoo, if I had the money I'd buy one and put it on display just cause the case is sooo sexy. I mean there's always gonna be better value somewhere else but for looks the voodoo is pure sex.

I just want it for browsing, abit of music and media, and like writing papers. I just want something light and sexy really though.

Voodoo Envy or ThinkPad

Out of the two, the Voodoo. It's more functional and you'll be more unique than somebody with a Macbook Air.

Also have a look at the new Dell Adamo though, also a very sleek laptop. Sadly, the performance doesn't match the price tag, but each to their own.

The Sony Z is also a great notebook. Might be large in the height department, but it has way better performance with hybrid graphics and a better CPU.

I have decided on the envy but does anyone know if there is any way to still customize the color?

The problem with the Envy is that it has never been updated so its specs right now are a lot worse than the Macbook Air.
The Envy still uses the 3-year-old GMA 3100, and its price never got lower than launch.

Nevertheless, the Envy is still a lot more versatile than the Macbook Air (the single USB port in the Air makes me sick, honestly) and if you're not playing any HD movies or games, the Envy would still be a better choice between the two.

macbook air

why?
pros

less power consumption + better battery + mac os x = more battery life
45nm processor
nvidia 9400 chipset
2x more HDD space
supports higher resolutions on secondary display
better looking case

cons:

1 USB port less
no dvd drive included (might be a pro if you want to get a blu-ray drive)
no access point included

the macbook air is the better all-around package, and this single USB port is easily fixable by a mini usb hub or a bluetooth mouse ;)

He is not buying the laptop because of specs. He is buying the notebook because of individuality and pursued of uniqueness.

A picture is worth a thousand words you know....

Ultimately, no matter which one you choose, you are paying the price of a high-end desktop for the specs of a netbook.

Macbook Air for battery life: should be 3-5 hours pending how you use it, I know a few people with them and for light usage (net & word, the in-class setup) they get 4-5 hours. IMO the mac also has some of the better specs out there.

the EnVy is just siiiiick looking though, if it had a 9400M chipset and a 1.8ghz Atom or new C2D along with a 80gb Intel SSD. It would be my next laptop. Like the picture above, as a college student ATM, Mac's are the new Dell.

Honestly though, the EnVy and Adimo (the Dell, w/e it is) just look 1000000x better than the Apple. Plus you'd stand out.

sidenote: the EnVy is carbon fiber???? wow, that's ballin'

The 9400 have death problems?!

Anyways, I guess the best platform for the Envy would be an Athlon Neo + 780G.

Mac's are the new Dell.

Yeah except they actually work, lol.

Personally though, I don't really like either. The size is too limiting to what I want to do.
