I reinstalled vista 32 and all the updates and ati catalyst drivers 9.2

My problem is when i run windows xp then i can setup tv out to run 60 Hz
but in vista i can only choose 25i Hz and my movies are flickering/lagging with this low hz..how do i change it to 60 hz like the xp system ?

have you checked what type of tv it has detected ?
25Hzi is interlaced is could think it's 1080i.

Hi mate, can you list your hardware?

Are you connecting it to your tv through DVI-HDMI? What resolution is the TV? (1080p?)

My gfx card is a 4870 ati saphire 1 gb and i am using a phillips standart tv ( no flatscreen )
I use s-vh cable and in windows xp i can choose 60 hz.
So i asume the cable and tv works fine along with the gfx card..i think it is vista related problem.

i run 2 boot systems win xp and win vista 32

Intel core E8500
Corsair 6 gb ram ddr3
ati radeon 4870 1 gb ram
samsung hdd F1
Asus p5q3 deluxe wifi
Zalman 700 w

Unfortunately I've no experience running Vista on an SDTV.

I'd strongly recommend against anyone doing this, however, SDTV's really weren't meant to be used as PC displays and the one time i did try it on XP it looked terrible :(

That's what to do  DVI to HDMI cable is best.

Many LCD and Plasma screens are made to support 59Hz @1080p

Try 59Hz, I bet it will work much better :)

If Windows will not let you select anything higher than 25Hz, it is because you have the wrong monitor driver. Monitor drivers are what determine the colour depth and refresh rate your monitor supports.

He's not using a monitor, he's not even using a HDTV, he's trying to use an SDTV.

You know, those box shaped things we had back in the 90s :D
