Hello!

I have been thinking allot of building a chassis and now is a good would be a good time to start. But because of my limited experience in water-cooling I need some help from you guys :). Well... "some" isn't the right word. A lot is more fitting :help:

Water-Cooling parts
CPU block: D-TEK FuZion v2.
Radiators: 2x Thermochill PA120.3. I'm also thinking about getting a PA120.2 if I have to.
Pump: 2x DDC3.2 with EK rev2 Plexi/acetal tops.
Reservoirs: 2x EK Multioption RES 150 Rev2.
GPU FC block: A full cover block with standoffs.
Tubing: Tygon R3603 7/16in. ID 11/16in.
Fittings: Danger Den "Fat boy" G 1/4" Thread, 1/2" OD. Or compression fittings.

I have most of the WC stuff. I was going for a single loop first but now I have changed my mind and I'm going with 2 loops. A GPU loop and a CPU loop (It is possible that I will be cooling the NB to).

Sketches!!!

Ok, so I'm not that good with cad and stuff. But I know some stuff. I have been looking around in Google SketchUp for some time. But I'm not that good. That's why I have been using ms paint for some brainstorming :P I have been painting all the parts in scale also. Anyway here are some ideas, Feel free to bash and criticize :P

Version #1: "Only" two PA120.3 and with inverted ATX.
http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/3784/version1v.th.png (http://img15.imageshack.us/my.php?image=version1v.png)

Version #2: two PA120.3 and also a PA120.2. Inverted ATX here also.
http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/78/version2.th.png (http://img56.imageshack.us/my.php?image=version2.png)

Version #3: two PA120.3 and also a PA120.2. I have painted 3 routing options. Number 1 and 2 have ATX and number 3 is inveted ATX.
http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/4842/version3.th.png (http://img216.imageshack.us/my.php?image=version3.png)

This is where I really need your help. To decide what model to go with. And the routing of the houses. Say which one you preferred and why. Pros/cons and all that.

Questions!!!
Just some random questions I haven't figured out yet. Feel free to answer anyone if you have an idea :D

#1. How does it work when you put a radiator above the res? Will it fill up the res or what?

#2. Support for EATX or not? What use do I have for EATX? Isn't it just boards like skulltrails that use that size?

#3. I'm I will be using low rpm fans (600-1200rpm) the best way should be pull from what i can understand correctly. And the most silent one to. Should i consider push? If so why.

#4.I will have to use some 90's in this build to get it neat. I like the look of bitspower and koolance. Which would you chose. Also what compression fittings should I get? I have Tygon R3603 7/16in. ID 11/16in tubing.

#5. How much cooling power does a 120.3 have? Can It cool 2 graphic cards? Like two radeon 4780 or two nvidia 280. Does that give good temps with low speed fans or do I have to another rad?

#6. If you stack rads after each other you lose performance compared to have them separated. This because you get hot air from the first radiator blowing through the second if I understand correctly. How much does that really effect performance?

#7. I have been looking for some material to use as fan filter but I can't seem to find any good. But then I saw this!
http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/3625/x500s03.th.jpg (http://img228.imageshack.us/my.php?image=x500s03.jpg)
That is exactly what I need! Lian Li seems to be using it quite frequently. Does anyone know what material that is. And how and where to get it?

#8. I think I'm going to send the panels on anodization. Does someone know how much it costs to anodize parts?

And sorry if the English isn't prefect :)

I cleaned the post "a bit" from my random thoughts ^^ So it is more "digestible". I also deleted some questions. So mcoffey answers isn't on the right one if you think they make no sense.

huh :(

I guess I'm asking to many questions. The questions can I find searching my ass of here at XS (witch I'm doing right now...) but i thought that I can try to get some answers if someone knows anything.

But I really need you help with the layout of the chassis. And how I should route the houses.

so, bump :D

as they say "You have to break down the crazy in little pieces"

Do they have e-machines in Sweeden?

Is it http://www.emachines.com/ you mean? Then the answer is no. Really don't see what is has to do with the questions Brodholm asks...

#12: Why not check out the slot-in loading ones? Great looks, but "one generation" less perfromance. Should be plenty of performance anyway! Check out HTPC-stores for slot loading devices. A bit more expensive though. But really cool looking!

Me neither :\

That's about all I can help you with. After going thru your post, I need a nap

andyc

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I know it is a PITA to reed long posts :D Your nap is well deserved :yepp:

#4. Not sure if you can, but I always use just one RPM cable for a group of fans
Shouldn't i be able to do that? Its just a electrical signal right? I don't really now how it works though. Maybe that screws thing up.

#6. Go with the DDC-3.2, or maybe even a D-5 type with EK V2 top is silence is an issue for you
I have already got a DDC3.2 lying here on my desk. So I don't know if I want to get 2 D5's. Many people has said that the ddc is a quiet pump. If not even quieter than the D5. But later here on XS i have seen a lot of posts saying that the d5 is quieter.

#8. I always liek to push if possible, more silent based on my experience, and there's not enough difference
Isn't pull quieter? Since you get the fans inside the case?

#11. A 120.3 rad will cool the GPU's fine, no need for 2nd rad unless you want to add one.
So I will be fine with two PA120.3? Can really one 120.3 take 2 gpu's? Wont i get lousy temps with only one?

And thanks again!

:D

Sorry, didn't check the link. There are two type of slim line, the ones with normal trays and the slot in (like in the picture). A slot in is totally insensitive to mounting orientation as far as I know...

Brodholm, damn :D. I knew you were going to post a thread, but this just makes me dizzy to look at :D

Yeah it is a mess... too much information :)

I'm thinking of scaling it down a bit :D Save some stuff for the worklog...

I have updated the post a bit more. Deleted a lot of questions and random stuff. So now it should be easier to reply... I really need help with some of these questions. But the thing is, I don't have a clue of what design to use. I still need to decide if I should go two PA120.3 or if I should get an extra PA120.2. Thats my main issue

My bad... :(
