acrylic extension question

so im planning to make an extension/exterior reservoir for my acrylic case. i would like it to be clear, and i was thinking acrylic or plexiglass, both are fairly easy to work with i think... any other suggestions would be appreciated. also i would like this to be water tight, so if is anyway to solder plastic? or anything else that would keep water from coming out?

you could use silicon to seal the case..
