Thermaltake Celebrates its 10th Anniversary at CeBIT with an Unique Case
Today at CeBIT in Hannover, Thermaltake showed something that is fairly far outside of the regular mold. Having its name from the tenth anniversary of Thermaltake, the Level 10 case looks like nothing else seen before. The basic idea of this concept is to provide housing for each component of a normal PC individually. The case is formed out of four separate compartments - one for the optical drives, one for the six hard drives, one for the motherboard and one for the power supply. From the pictures we can see a lot of plastic is used, but no fans are visible. There's only one standard 120 mm (if I'm right) case fan to exhaust hot air from the motherboard chamber and that's all. We can expect more details on Thermaltake's 10th anniversary case at this year's Computex, that starts in June. The case is said to be launched then, and sell in limited quantity.

This does look awesome, like some sort of space age case :D. But I worry about airflow :| those vents look a bit peculiar.

edit:
It needs more LED's and possibly a window though

Looks like 10 different shades of ugly IMO.

This seems like a horrible idea. It looks like it is from the 90's, and there is basically no airflow. Why would you want this?

What a piece of crap.
But someone will buy it.

Interesting concept. However could have been much better implemented, starting with high quality materials and a clean design making use of steel/alu.

They should make the left side thinner so the right side looks slightly bigger, by placing driver vertically and allow less space for CPU heat sinks (like anyone would drop in a high TDP system in a case with only one 120mm fan:rolleyes:). Also use Aluminium or so, then it would be a nice HTPC case:cool:

I've wanted to make something similar for a while now except it would just have the motherboard covered with only the socket area/cpu heatsink/chipset and videocard exposed.

Ugly as .

[I]Tt's continuous underachieving should be declared an universal constant, similar to the charge of electron.

Chruschef

there slogan is, cool all your life

this thing looks like a great way to suffocate all of your components of airflow... the only airflow they might get is from 40mm fans..

<sarcasm>or did Tt invent some kind of ultra mega 1337 sub-ambient aircooling/watercooling technology again? man they're good.</sarcasm>

Serra

It's different. I kind of like it myself, but that's definitely up for debate. Actually, the more I look at it the less I do - but whatever.

As to cooling, it looks to me like that bulge in the motherboard area has an 80mm (? maybe 120mm?) fan on the front, presumably one on the back too. So not an overclocking case, but maybe for an HTPC art concept. I imagine the thing would cost an arm and a leg though (considering the level of expansion/cooling provided especially), and that alone should kill it as a product.

Also: lol @ the "No Photo" sign in front of the case in the first picture.

That's supposed to be a limited edition created to celebrate TT's 8th [?] Anniversary. Odd way of celebrating if you ask me but it will sell to regular "TT fans" no matter how much they charge >.>

Nice idea but as usual TT fails in implementation. Just wait 6 months and Lian Li or Silverstone will do it right

Are you serious?:rofl: That is funny. Whatever happned to cake? No, let's design a fugly TT case instead. It'll be sooooo much better than cake!:ROTF:

Oh, BTW, no on should be allowed to take pictures of our TT beast:ROTF:

funny how corsair chassis thread comes up and then the competition... plus this thread got 5 stars but the majority of the posters don't like the case :ROTF:

Considerable comedy value or even in some rare cases old fashion informative content warranties elevated ratings.

Then again, it's not allowed to discuss thread ratings on XS. Threads about the subject have even been deleted without any notice...

I really respect Thermaltake for trying this (and this is coming from someone who hates the vast majority of their products). It is so radically different. I think it has potential too.

While it's got no mod-ability, nor anywhere to water cool,
I'm pretty certain they wouldn't just make a case knowing
the heat output of today's computer components
with absolutely no provision for cooling.

Agreeing with some of the previous post's
it appears the hard drive cage is a heatsink.
I would never have one, if anything because Tt always
want an arm and a leg for there very limited products,
however I think it would look interesting as a HTPC.

what makes this so modular?? you can't take away the mobo tray, PSU compartment, or other compartments that are needed to house the needed hardware to make the computer run. basically you need all the parts, so what makes it so modular?

and i'm echoing everyone else: THIS IS SOO FUGLY!

its open style case that is better then just having yours parts laying around and running

its kind of like those benchmark cases

i would build someone and htpc with this, would probably be a great conversation piece.... but for all of us here, it's useless.

Modular eh? If that so, then Tt might release some additional parts in the long run, let's say some bay accessories. It's Lego-like in appearance so the concept behind might also be. One thing is certain, that case is good for those who want a unique and odd looking PC cases. Kind of reminds me on that Dubai Hotel casing(forgot the maker:D).

If each component like the hard drives were plug and play, with the connections already laid via PCB or hard wire .. I would be intrigued.

Are you guys sure it's air-cooled?

There could be things hidden in there.... Pre-run cables, heat pipes or a chiller maybe? Maybe this is the next step in Xpressar evolution...

Maybe the compartments are so small because the air in them is air-conditioned and the whole thing is sealed so the moisture, if anywhere, forms on the outside......Naaaah, prolly not.

The pics only cover two angles so....

Of course it could all be just a stupid case in the end...

lots of 90mm fan holes but only one fan. The hard drives/optical drives are probally not actively cooled, and the motherboard section has an exhaust. It could work I guess

I think it pretty much fits the TT image, flashy crap.

Ok have to admint Lian Li also failed hard with their Anniversary case but hey at least they had a 2 dozen really great ones.

the idea i imagine is that each component is isolated so that only its own cooling cools it down, and it cant heat up other things.

There's one thing I don't like: The cheap paint they use (look there in the corner, the paint goes away)

It's TT after all, there is a reason why they draw so much hate here.

It looks cheap and tacky which rules out any htpc use in my opinion, besides, I bet they will sell each part separately and make it far more expensive as a whole than a regular case.

mAJORD

it looks retarded from all angles. It's obvious however that they mocked something up VERY quickly "just in time" for the show, and as a result it looks even more ugly since it looks like a 12y/o has painted it.

FAIL, Thermaltake.. an F-

and seriously.. if they paid good money for BWM to design it.. LOL is all I can say. Poor Thermaltake

EXactly! I was thinking the same thing! The BMW designers must've been in love with their PS2 :D

UHHHHH... I still do not know how I could install my PC in this case? Where would all the wires go? The hard drives have to be installed sideways, right? Could a GTX 280 or a 4870X2 fit in there?

Though it is definitely out of my price range

ha, i laughed about that as well! :D

the case itself is, yeah, ...i don't know. the actual thing doesn't look that high quality. i'm wondering about the airflow as well, but maybe there's some deeper idea behind this design which i'm unable to see atm :p:
