Does anyone have an idea when winxp 64bit will be released to the public? I havent heard much about it yet. Has anyone here beta tested if so whats your thoughts on it?

The Enterprise version of WIndows 2003 (.NET) is 64bit, well theres a 64bit version of it. Ive tried the beta 32bit standard .net server, its a nice OS but for benching on amd whcih is what im using 2k is still better

Hmmmmm, whats the enterprise version and is it available to the public? just wondering cuz ill have my athlon 64 in the morning. Knda wanted to play around with a 64 bit os

If you run an Athlon 64 in Windows XP Home/Professional, does it run in 32BIT mode?

I thought they said it wouldn't come out until Q4 2004 or early 2005. That is what I read in some computer magazine.

by then 64 bit processors will be mainstream and everyone will have them...should be exciting

You're mistaken, I think...
That dates are for the launch of the completely new windows 'Longhorn', win xp 64-bit should be here sooner...

The final longhorn code isn't expected till around 2005.

The last I heard the release was expect to be in Feb after Service pack 2 for XP is released. It's expected to be XP with a modified 2003 kernel.

I just picked up win2003 enterprise edition wich is supposed to have 64 bit support. Im gonna duel boot it with win xp home and see how she runs. Ill post about it after i play with it for a few days.

Go here and get windows server 2003 for A64 for free. Just to bad there's no drivers out yet for the mobo or Ati cards.

i installed it but really cant do anthing with it because of it lack of support....hopefully they will have some updates soon!!!
