Hi all,

Not sure if this is posted in the correct place, I need to prove whether my cpu (see sig for overclock) is stable at the moment cos I want tochange to 5:4 to up the cpu to approx. 3.5ghz (with the help of the SP94 heatsink).
What do you rate the best program for proving cpu stability? Also what do you consider the best program for memory stability?

Thanks guys.

First thing first.
Welcome to the Xtreme. ;)
Next off, from everything Ive read/seen/heard Prime95 is one of the best for CPU stability. There are tons that can be used though.
Prime95, Toast, Sandra (even though some dont like Sandra too much.) Folding@Home or any of the Distributed Client type progs.
Some like to use 3DMark too since it does do some stressing on the CPU.
The best memory that Ive heard of it Memtest or something like that.
And Id say this is placed in the right area. ;)

I usually use prime, memtest86, and 3dmark01 to test stability. Sandra doesn't seem to do too good of a job of catching instabilities.

Or if your a gamer, you could just play ut2003 for a couple of hours....:)
UTk3 will NEVER run for me if my setup isn't 100% stable.

Thanks to you all for your replies, I am going to use prime95 & UT2003 (cos I already own it:)) to test my cpu and memtest86 for my memory (I have also heard this is a good prog).
Thx again guys.

Ive never use prime95, I always run the Sandra CPU benchmarks (both of them for a while) for my processor, the Sandra memory benchmark on looping for my memory and 3DMark01 for my graphics card. 3Dmark01 also stresses the rest of the system a bit too but the nature test looping is great for testing stability on graphics cards.

prime will fail where others wont.. SO id say 4 or 5 runs of
3dmark.

Primes always been the best at catching cpu errors. And prime AND memtest for memory errors. Can't beat recent 3d games for fsb testing though.

I run Prime95 and Folding@home overnight.
