I am trying to fix this stinking computer
it is a pII 300 191 megs of ram and just generic stuff was having problems so i decide i would format and reinstall with win98se
now i wont install gets a message that a corrupted cab file was found and could be due to low conventional memory/hardware/bad media yadayada yada

I just used this cd on my lap top with boot up disk and worked fine what the dang deal

is the hardrive old or not working right? you could have bad blocks, just a guess

That message is caused by either a bad read off the CD or corruption in memory during extraction.

Old CDROM drives have caused this problem for me in the past.

Boot with the floppy boot disk, run scandisk to check for the errors. If there is none, then do a format and then run setup from the cd.

ok cool you konw i didnt even think about the cdrom one i pulled from a 166 system i was given so yeah could be the cdrom cuz i know the cd is good the harddrive works my system 1.8 on a dragon picks its up i formatted and i ran killdisk on it as well i know it is just the cdrom same cdrom on another computer does the same thing

OK SJohnson thank you thank you took out the cd and put in a 4x4x24 cdrw and blamo i am installing like a mad man

I would have never thought it could have been the cd rom wierd
