Just have a question about this mobo. I bought it and the case for like 60 bucks. Wondering if it is a decent mobo. Smiz says it is cool but just gathering several opinions

it is a chaintech 7aia
supports to 950 amd socket a
100mhz ddr transfer on K7 cpu
high efficiency switching power modules provides 1.6v for VCC and up to 42a for Icc
chipset is via apollo kt133(vt8363/686b Support ata 100) two chip agpset
supports 1 gig ram
one 32 bit agp slot for both 2x/4xagp at 3.3v ro 1.5v thre pci slots
one isa
award system bios, supports pnp, apm, dmi, acpi and multidevice booting features ie floppy and so on
includes trend chipaway virus protection
supports two ide ports up to 4 atapi devices
supportsup to pio mode 4 upt 16.6mbps, mlti word mode4 up to 66mbps with bus mastering
embedded audio seems ok
Some of this might seem trivial but this is the first system I have put together so oh yeah I will soon have a 600 amd unlocked and running @ 950, Still need to purchase ram and yes I know have a Hercules 64mb kyroII video

Just curious about the mobo?

For $60.00, it seems like an ok board from your description. Not exactly an O/cer's first choice, but as a combo deal, I'd do it. It'll at least get you far enuf that you'll have your system up and running and can upgrade later if you deem necessary. Then you can sell it in the classifieds and recoop some of the initial $60.00 :)

Article on your new board...seems to be good quality, but inexpensive oem type board (about $35 new). Sounds like a good deal to me. :toast:

well it seems smiz com over with a 600 duron and either the ram or the mobo was holding me back it would boot past 600 mhg, at 720 it booted once but then wouldnt reboot back to the bios. SO either i need better ram or a new mobo but for now it sure beats my pentium

I'd say it's gotta be the ram.
If anyone has any other ideas, the prob is that it won't boot at 133. I bumped the fsb and changed the multi. and got it to 720 one time, but it wasn't stable at all.
