Hi again, i have the HW Labs GTX Gen 2 240 rad, and looking for some advice.
have it running right now with 2 110cfm scythe slip stream, but they make some noise, and i read that this HW labs rads need higher cfm fans to work well, any clues?. I will upgrade if there is a difference in temps/noise.

PD. And i want to know if i have mixed metals in the loop, info on the sign

Thank you!

110cfm is much as far as I know. Should work fine with the rad you've got. Feser / thermochill rads are designed for low flow / noise fans, and won't benefit that much from high speed fans.

Best way to know is try to mesure water temp. whats in the loop after radiator under hevy system load is for sime time, if its not too high minus ambient temps, then there is no need to upgrade. :) And 110cfm fans, they must be loud, very loud not only some noise

yea, if your gunna use high CMF fans stick the the rads you've got, the thermochill and feser rads will preform better when used with low CMF fans, its due to the fans per inch.....if your going for a quieter setup then change over to feser and low CMF fans

Just for everyone's reference....Slip Stream '110CFM' fans are really ~75CFM in open air, fwiw. And they're pretty bad on radiators. They'll perform somewhere between an S-Flex F and S-Flex G.

To the OP: which of your components are in your loop? Just your CPU, right? A 2x120 radiator with 1900RPM fans way more than necessary for a 3GHz Conroe. You could probably drop your fans to <600RPM (yes, even on that rad) and still have 'great' temps.

go with a XSPC rx360 it is literally = thermochill temperatures if your going to go low-med cfm fans
black ice rads are normally used with high cfm fans to keep them cool so if you cant stand the noise of your computer fans squeeling 60 dba every second then switch
your fine unless you want to reduce the noise in your computer

want it to be more quite? go thermochill or feser....

Wow thanks for the fast response, and yeah i want a quite system, but performance its not affected?.

PD. As i thought, the slip arent 110cfm, they are somewhat near to antec tricool on high, any recommendations on fans, i was looking into some medium yates.

medium yates are what an awful lot of people use, and from what i hear they are very good on Thermchill and feser rads, im using Xigmatech fans on my thermochill and getting very nice temps on them, they are very quiet and very astheticaly pleasing...

edit: http://www.xigmatek.com/product/accessory-xlf-f1253.php are the exact fans im using, they are rated at 61 CMF and <20db, though i run mine at ~600 rpm and cant hear them running

...as for preformance...the thermochill and feser rads which are low fins per inch, with low CMF fans on low speeds preform equaly, and often better than the high fins per inch rads on high CMF high speed fans

hope this helps

Go for Zalman F3 fans, they ar damn good, I got same and no ticking noise under lower voltage, at 12 volts they do aprox. 54 CFM on radiator and 70+ free air, they also works realy good at lower voltage, they include resistor for lover voltage to 7 vots and and good performance/silence ratio ;)

Just undervolt the fans

The GTX series is designed for high-speed fans, but it still works with low-speed fans.

http://martin.skinneelabs.com/HWlabs480GTX-Review.html
Let's assume a 150W load for the E6600 (probably way less really) and then ~double that because Martin's review is of a 480GTX, which has ~2x the cooling power of a 240GTX. So we'll follow the 300W load that Martin tested. Even at 1000RPM, there's a <10C Wo/Ai delta. With his current fannage, he's probably in the 3-4C range.

Go over to the PA120.3, and ~1.5x (to account for the PA120.3s ~1.5x over the PA120.2) the assumed ~150W load to the 235W graph, and at 1000RPM, it's a ~7C delta. Only ~3C improvement (at most) on slow fans going from a 240GTX to PA120.2....nothing worthwhile considering the Conroe is only at 3GHz to begin with.

My advice: just turn down your fans that you have now :) If you've got the itch to upgrade, go to some S-Flex or Zalman F3s as others have recommended :)

Vapor: You said these fans were bad on radiators. Wouldn't they, ff undervolted, be pretty much useless on a high FPI rad?

A 240GTX with a 3GHz Conroe is veritable overkill (afterall, Kentsfields came stock at 3GHz), anything that moves air will suffice really...

I'd personally go to new fans, but I wouldn't dismiss what he has now considering how low the load is.

Lol i fail at description, i think if i would upgrade i will do to 360 or 480 for future proof, thanks for the answer, and undervolting the fans already tried it and it was mess, temps gone bad, adn just returned to 12 volts. Tried the 7v mod.

But what do you call bad temps? If its few degrees then I would better get low noise than "better" temps. 3Ghz on 65nm dual core dont make much heat, so low speed fans on you rad is good enough if you have good thermalgrease and good mount

if your looking to futureproof your setup.....id suggest going with the thermochill PA 120.3, or wait for the PA 120.4 to come out later on...and prop them up with some 60-70 CMF fans, quiet ones, they will preform well and cool your system nicely.......

Lol i say future proof because i will upgrade to i7 in some months. And yep i preffer less noise too.

get 38mm fans for thick radiators like that..
