The MB-ASR2E-DRAM water block handles the DRAM/QPI interconnect circuit on the ASUS Rampage II Extreme motherboard. It attaches directly to the Koolance MB-ASR2E cooler, intercepting one nozzle socket.

Looking at the pictures I believe this will prevent you from using any mid or full length sound cards...

Seeing as this is so cheap, i bought one to try, but im wandering if this will make any difference, the DRAM/QPI interconnect circuit on the ASUS Rampage II Extreme is hot to the touch as it is so I guess case temps will be lowered.. but will this give me an advantage in overclocking in anyway?

What the cpu can do is the limit, not the board, but there is no such thing as too much cooling, so it's good anyway.

Yep, I just installed one a few days ago.
I should have fittings delivered today and get this all put together over the weekend.

I'm afraid my QPI temps were holding me back and this may tell me if that was true.

I don't understand, does the Koolance standard block not cool that part?

nah, but im sure koolance was aware of this when the released the nb/sb block, just another product to martket! cant blame them really they got my money.
notice in the picture my koolance block without the QPI/DRAM water block, its just the stock asus heatsink with the Gamer Republic backlit in white. underneath this is a raised card covered in chips also pictured, thats what this new block covers. just when i thought i had everything covered i got to bleed the loop!

I have a Rampage II Extreme sitting on my desk... T.T Awaiting money to get more parts. I was looking at getting that Koolance block and the DRAM cooler, will that interfere with putting the Sound Card that came with the board in the top slot, I just looked and from what I can tell it should be ok. Just want to confirm.

thanks.

The X-FI card still fits fine. No problem at all.

The sound card that came with the board will fit... Unfortunately my xonar essence will not:(

Hmmm, maybe i should move my sound card as well... but this will involve tearing the loops apart again... aarrrhhhh!!!
