Hey Guys,

I wanted to share an Online Overclockign contest that is currently being hosted by Tom's Hardware and AMD. There will be a total of two separate contest, one for Feb and one for March.

The Februrary Contest will be limited to AMD Phenom II X4 940 Processors
The March Contest will be limited to AMD Phenom II X4 720 Processors

Their will be a total of 5 CPU Benches:
1. SuperPi 1.5 1M
2. SuperPi 1.5 32M
3. PiFast 4.1
4. wPrime 1.55 32M
5. wPrime 1.55 1024M

The grand prize winner for both the 940 and 720 categories will be flown down to LA to demonstrate their OC Skills at the Tom's Hardware Office.

Random weekly prizes will also be given out every week. So even if you don't win the contest, you can still win :)

This is just a rough overview. You can check out the details over here:

Tom's Hardware AMD CPU Virtual Overclocking Contest (http://www.tomshardware.com/contest/amd_overclocking/)

Good luck to everyone that enters.

Cool stuff Ton. Too bad the 940 contest winner goes to LA on the weekend of April 24, same time as GOOC :(

I'm in for the 720 one though :)

Stand em up if it's that big an issue! They deserve it! Anyways--what I find ironic is how the prizes are the same as the competition equipment... a Phenom II 940, 4GB DDR2/3, an AM2+/AM3 board (pictured: Intel Skulltrail), and a HD4870. No cash prize? And what board will they deem "overclockable"?

Something funny I just noticed. It's BYOH (bring your own hardware).

25. The winning contestant for each contest will be flown or otherwise transported to Los Angeles at the expense of Bestofmedia, where they will recreate their overclocking results, using their own hardware.

But a free trip is a free trip, and the guys at Tom's are actually cool to hang out with. They definitely showed us a good time in November

Well.. the main draw is the trip to LA :) Well.. its great if you are not in LA :P And Sno.icn is right, those Tom's Hardware guys are great, very fine group of folks. Same for their international counter parts. Either way.. this is going to be a fun contest, especially those that enjoy benching AMD.

Good Luck to All.

PS - I will make sure that Tom's Hardware get the winners some Double Double Animal Style Burger from In-N-Out for one of the days you are here :)
