Well, you know...after a few hours, UD4P goes nuts under cold, that is a regular issue, we changed our mobo in Prague because of that :)

Yeah Ross and Maxi are having really bad board problems. Miahallen has this in the bag, 5116Mhz I think. I'm stuck at 5025MHz, CPU won't go to 5050MHz *shrug*

Pulling the system apart, drying everything off, and mounting up the Tek 9 loaned to me. Working on getting the wi-fi back up.

Deanzo
04-25-2009, 02:06 PM
Yep, if Miahallen board holds out, even a so so GPU will see him take it.

or same as you what gigabyte provided?

what clocks are ppl running on chips and cards roughly

Vapor
04-25-2009, 04:58 PM
Everyone's using Gigabyte chips.

I think the better cards are at mid-800s, and the better CPUs at 5.15ish for 8M and like 4.8-4.9 in 3D. Not really sure though, no one is announcing clocks.

EDIT: FUGGER's cascade is a beast...definitely been a huge help for him by having consistent temps and clocks.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if it was an SSD or a CPU, since Francois said something along the lines of "These were the guys who perhaps didn't have the best CPUs".

steady and start pumping volts and clocks hard

Big push now :D

congrats miah
looks as though he got it

nah they dont have Pi scores
miah has this in the bag
does he get to pick a team mate or how does it work?

I have no clue

I've been kept in the dark about a lot of stuff....I didn't even know I wasn't competing till just before the competition.

The way they're phrasing it, it seems he's going and #2 doesn't necessarily go, which makes me think he gets to pick his own partner :)

Congrats Miah :up::clap:

Look forward to seeing you (and I'd say Titon if he picks) in Taiwan.

Congrats to miah and everyone else in the comp :)

grats guys

Congrats to all..

Congratulation to all the winners and contestants !

Thanks all! I did get one of the nicer CPUs...my final 8M score was 1:30.898 at 5116MHz with about 4400MHz uncore and about 1000MHz 8-8-8-24. Not great...but enough. I completed a run at 5146MHz at 1:30.203 but CPU-Z gave my a systme32.dll error that could could not get around, so I was unsuccessful in screening it.

In 3D06, I was planning to use the RT CMD lines for voltage modification...however, it did not work. I was sitting next to Jody, and both he and I were confused as to why it was not working at all. The first 06 results I posted (8.4K HDR, 21K) was at 650/1150 on the card with stock voltage. After the first hour, I made the decision to break it down and do the hard mod...I was down for almost exactly 8 minutes, but I didn't mod a read point to save time (insulation was in the way). I figured I'd dial in my voltage with RT. After powering back on, RT would not show my actual voltage, and so I was adjusting the VR completely in the dark. I twisted about 5 ot 6 full turns and ran 06 at 800/1150 and passed. I screened the result and was BSing with a couple onlookers when the system powered off, and refused to power back on. I'm assuming that I killed the GPU. But, apparently the score was enough to edge me past the others!

Myself and sno.lcn (1st and 2nd) will be representing the USA in Taipei.

The competition was a hell of a lot of fun. For the short while that Fugger and I were trading punches it was exciting but my chip walled at 5025MHz core, 4422 uncore, memory at 1005MHz 8-8-8-24-1T. I was at 201x25 and the next jump up to 5050MHz was unstable regardless of voltage, so I gave up. I warmed everything up, insulated my GTX260, pulled it all down again, and the problems started.

At the beginning of the 2 hours I could bench 3D06 at ~4200MHz but it would crash every time even with the GPU at stock speeds. I never actually got a 3D06 run above 4GHz to complete, hence why I have no score submission. I don't know what I did wrong, I suspect there was condensation in the socket but I was so bewildered that I didn't consider pulling it apart again.

Regarding SPi 8M, I swear I saved my 2nd place result on that thumbdrive. SuperPi itself actually saved the result but after the tragedy that was 3D06 I didn't bring it up to Hicookie.

Tomorrow will be a great day of freestyle benching. Despite my personal problems benching it was a great event, just need ear plugs due to the DJ.. told her twice to lower it and she'd lower it for a song and then blare that crap again.

big congrats to Mia, i was sitting beside him and he really earned the win. he made a crucial decision late, executed what he had to do perfectly, and it paid off huge. congrats to everyone though, i think we all had a good time regardless of our issues.

oh and BTW, Chris (gomeler) is a freak. setting up, posting here, handling the live feed, swapping CPU's, posting here...it was quite the site watching it all unfold. congrats again to the winners, overall a great day. thanks to Gigabyte and especially the Gigabyte ladies, all full of energy and such a good time.

Special thanks to GIGABYTE for such a super nice event, they really roll out the red carpet for everyone. Angela, Rita, Ilene are so super nice it's not funny. Fantastic hosts I must say !!

Special thanks to Angela for being such a great host and so very nice !
Rita is such a crack up and soooo CRAZY HAHA
Ilene is super nice also and was great to talk with

Sitting in a room with all these great clockers was a real treat, everyone was very friendly and cool, had a great time talking with you all.

Sitting next to Titon was a real treat, very cool guy and a great clocker. He brought his son in on sunday, super cool kid there Titon. Poor guy tho., Rita comes over and hugs all over the little guy, he was like OMG DAD !!!
Very nice tho watching him poor LN2 for you and helpping out. You a very lucky guy Titon !

So many people I met for the first time. It was really good that 3OH6 and Gomeler had to sit next to each other, those 2 guys are NUTS !!

Charles was so cool with his machine. He was just sitting there all cool like, just upping his OC each time some one beat his, and he would counter. It just looks to easy for him. Popping fuses with his machine was priceless LOL

Was great to see DrWho again and chat with. Allways a pleasure to be able to chat with the big guy

Vapor, Maxi, Gautam, Ross and all, it was great being able to meet you guys

Big thanks to Punx/Shannon for being there and providing moral support, cheering me on and being a great LN2 runner for our side of the table.

From the Legit Reviews article here (http://www.legitreviews.com/article/960/2/)

http://www.legitreviews.com/images/reviews/960/clamp.jpg
Some people came to the show with custom made pots and others with ones that didn't quite fit properly and needed some extra finesse to get them to work properly. A couple of metal plates, a ton of insulating material and two big fat C-Clamps usually will work in pace of four bolts and nuts as you can see from the picture above. Just don't move the video card from side to side as that setup must weigh a ton. If you are wondering who uses C-Clamps for overclocking, it would be no other than Jeremiah 'MIAHALLEN' Allen, 29, who recently won Toms Hardware Guide "Overdrive" North America and World Champions (Team IRONMODS).

Guys, i have about 200 pictures.

I've got pictures of EVERYONE and all of their setups. I just need to host them on our site, and its not looking too pretty for me right now.

If it doesnt work out within the next 24 hours, i'll host them on my photobucket and just go buckwild on this thread.

Lemme know if you need somewhere to post some stuff for a while. I have space to some spare on my server.

We should be switching over to a new Server, i may do it once we merge over. :)

Just be patient guys, if you'd like a picture of yourself PM me and i can send you a photobucketed shot for now. I have images of basically everything, benches, prizes, group photos, individual setups, each overclocker, scores, you name it. ;)

Guys, I think I'm a DARPA bio-warfare experiment. On the plus side I'm feeling much better so it is only a ~4 day affair. To all those who get sick from me, just imagine what it is like to feel that way with ~4 hours of sleep a night :D Now, I passed the swine flu test(put hand over frying pan, if bacon smell emerges you are infected) flawlessly so I think it must be bird flu. oink.

Yeah I have to say that Gigabyte did a really fantastic job on the event, it ran very smooth and they are just so nice to everyone.

Benching with everyone was a blast for me, I was having a great time hanging out and benching with the best there is. All you guys are something else. Plus I do not get to hang with Punx very much, only the second time actually and I really enjoyed that.

When I first walked in I had no clue on who would be benching, then I saw the big board with names and pictures and went OMG !

Titon and his son pouring LN2 was just the best thing there. Congratz again Titon your a lucky dad ! Some day he will be calling you a noob over clocker and beating your scores HAHA :)

yeah, it was submerged in flourinert (or however you spell it).

mike
04-29-2009, 07:08 PM
yeah it was fluorinert that I had picked up on ebay a while ago. I works great to prevent condensation when you want to be able to be sloppy with insulation. It's great when everything works well - but can be a bit messy when you need to change CPUs. The Fluorinert will evaporate after a little while and your components are just like new. You can even toss your cellphone in - but your phone display might not like it....lol
