View Full Version : Laptop powers on when closed

My buddy got a Hell Studio 17 (1737). And for some reason it powers on after he turns off the pc and once he closed the screen the power turns back on. Also when he moves the monitor pass 90 degrees (like your closing it). The power just dies. It doesn't shut off it just powers down. Why?

Also this happens when I'm just in the BIOS, with or without the battery installed, or even when just running off the battery.

Sounds like a problem with the pressure sensor (or whatever is installed to detect when the lid is opened/closed). RMA time :)

Have a look were the hinge is there shoudl be a little switch make sure nothing is blocking it or anything...if not sound like an rma as said above :(

To get to the Dell switches you need to open up the whole laptop... At least that was the case with my old 6000, 6600 and 1520. It's located under the cover above the keyboard. I doubt the Studio laptops have such a cover.
