Anyone with experience with these? I am planning to get two pairs of these for draining. From the description it has a twist shutter, in combination with a 3 way block it could make a small, good looking drain port.
Anyone can elaborate on this?
Im using one of those as a drain in my system, coupled with a Koolance D5 top. Works really well, dunno how I survived without a drain before :shakes:

I've got 2 of the female versions of those on KL 4-way blocks, one on each loop and and a single male (your link) attached to a piece of hose for drains. They're a beautiful thing! They work great, look great and are pretty small IMO. I think they look better than a valve which, I was going to use They definately have a smaller profile.

With a correct top..yes. If it only has 1 inlet and 1 outlet the your going to need an adapter/T-line or sumthing else after the pump. So if your DDC top has 2 inlets & outlets you can use a QDC fitting like I did with your DDC.

I use them with a tri fitting and it makes draining so much easier and quicker and cleaner.

I was wondering the same thing.
Also, I wish they had some sort of dust cap for keeping the internal valve from getting gunked up with all the dust that's bound to accumulate on there while not in use.

male ends are better.
There are now low profile versions for those that dont like it too stubby.

A male fitting better for a drain.
I used them in my HAF 932 (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c239/vkvenom/LoopnoUV.jpg) build.
Also in my current MM 24 (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=3581386&postcount=11)build for a drain. They are absolutely wonderful!
I have recently tried to upgrade to a 4870x2 , draining the loop was EASY!
plug in, open res, drain , unplug . Everything dry, and loop 95% empty.
To bad the 4870x2 was bad, I was looking forward to it.
After reinstalling the GTX260 i used a 90 deg. KQD on the vid card block and see no difference in temps.
I will be adding another one before the res so no need to drain the loop when changing the vid card.

The male is a little smaller, it has to fit inside the female. I went w/ the females in my loop just because I figured the male's o-ring would get dried and dusty(dumb I know) inside the case. Either one of these low profile qdc's are pretty small anyway.

Anyone using q-disconnect as drain have any problem with it?
I'm planning to get one for my loop. Wondering if it could withstand the constant pressure from the loop.
Or is it better to put a ball valve before the q-disconnect?
I'll be using the male connector connected to a Y fitting in the loop, and the female on the drain hose.
Anyone tired disconnecting these q-disconnect while pump is running?

I would get the VLN's tho if ur gonna get QD's now.

Do QDs have any problems with many connect/disconnect cycles? It wont start leaking after let's say 20-50 ones?

The O-rings break easily.
But Koolance sent me some replacements, which was good of them.

yes ive had a few worn out orings.. however dean sent me a few replacements.
The O-rings break easily.
But Koolance sent me some replacements, which was good of them.
^ this... there really good, just email them.

They have all the replacement o-rings available for purchase on their site for $0.49 (forty-nine cents) each.

The other thing is just lubricate the o-rings before connecting the two parts... even water for lubrication is sufficient.

Hmm, they don't give you spare o-rings in the package?
2 would 've been great. Just so you don't need to rush to the hardware store when it does leak. Even 1 would be good, since I can bring it to the hardware store to match size and thickness for the spare that needs to be kept in stock.
I can just imagine many people (including me) getting the wrong size/thickness when they get the replacement o-ring.
Can anyone tell me what size o-ring the VL3N series uses?
I'll need to prepare some just in case.
