A couple of months ago I bought some new Hardware, but didn't really know which case to buy. So I started to build one myself...

It is constructed with a frame in pine wood and the side panels are 12mm MDF with 0.5mm alu plate.

During the months I've spent quite some time at it, but it still needs a lot of work. School tends to keep me busy :(

This case is quite huge, height: 75cm incl the wheels, width: 30cm and depth: 50cm

There's room for some heavy watercooling, maybe even phase-change, but currently I'm still cooling with air...

=> Sorry for the quality of the pictures, my photographer was a bit drunk...
I hope to get my own digital camera next week, and post some more pics

Post your comments, and maybe give me some hints...

PS, When I have time, I'll do my best to build a website round this stuff, for now, just the pictures...

With a bit of luck, my system might just boot again then (borrowed a barton, but that didn't seem to work :()

The wooden plate is cut by an electric jigsaw (that's the right word iirc), the aluminium is cut with special aluminium scissors. The cut-out job was also done with the jigsaw...
Glad you like it :)

Updated and added some new pics...
WARNING: these are quite high-res, so they'll take some time to download, especially when you're not on broadband...

wimpie007,

Seems to be coming along nicely. I have seen some very nice custom wooden cases like that. Nice work! ;)

Actually, no I don't need that many optical drives, I was just sleaning up my room, and I ended up with that pile, just a picture for fun...

My computer has now a Pioneer dvd-119 dvd-rom, a Nec ND-2500A 8*dvd-/+rewriter, 2*WD1200Jb 120Gb 8mb cache disks (not in raid) and 2*WD360GD Raptor's in raid 0...
I'll probably buy an extra controller in the future, for now, there's another WD600BB 60Gb drive in an USB external casing...

Thanks TheDude, it's about finished now...
When completely assembled, it weighs around 30kg, or about 66 pounds... The wheels I bought initially for underneath the case, don't seem to be strong enough to hold it, so I already ordered new one's, these will fit under my next casemod... (brother's pc)

I'll try to get some more webspace, so I can show you the final pictures...

Thanks for the kind replies...

what power supply do you use for all this lol

Antec TruePower TrueBlue 480Watt, secured real tight with 14 screws in the top of the case...
Cost me about 150€/185$, which is rather expensive...
I didn't do appropriate research... :(

I'm planning to use watercooling soon (for graphics or cpu, but probably not both...)

I'm saying 480W should give me plenty of headroom, but I payed a bit too much.
Although, I'm having some problems ATM with the psu...
I'll keep you updated...
