is the volcano 11 capable of bring a 2500+barton to the 3000+ or even the 2800+ speed?
(i dont want to push it too far)

Personally, I wouldnt go for any ThermalTake heatsink, Id be more inclined to go for a SLK heatsink, if you can afford it. If you cant GlobalWin make some nice coolers.

I agree. If you are not able to spend $30+ though on a SLK 800,900,947 etc, heatsink then I do recommend the Volcano 7+ or the SK-7 heatsinks. Both are solid copper and the Volcano 7+ has an adjustable fan on it. I believe they ship out with a Smartfan II. Mine did anyway. Only $19.99 at Newegg and for most locations it's free Fedex Saver shipping. (2-3 days)

the volcano 11 also has a fan speed adjuster and it is capable of cooling the "3400+"

i have benched using one of them with my xp2700 at 24xx @ 1.85 on an NF7-s and after benching the temps were 44c

at idle with an ambient ttemp of 22c its only 34c.............. i am sure a SLK would only knock a few more c off but its 2.5 times the price

Looks OK to me and if you don't mind spending $30 then I would say go for it. If you aren't going to max out your CPU then this should work well for you.

Keep us posted eh?

I'm Vocalno 11 at 213*11 and temp is aroun 55 on load, 46 idle and it's so loud. For me it's just ok at that price and performance.

I think for your price range the thermalright sk-7 is the best idea. Maybe the thermalright alx-800 would fit in your price range too (25bucks at www.svc.com last time I checked). The alx-800 is supposed to cool just as well if not better than the slk800u

Umm an aluminum version of a copper heatsink will perform noticably worse than the origional. It looks pretty decent for a hybrid sink (Mostly due to the entire base being copper not just an insert). But I'd wager with a decent fan on an overclocked barton a slk-800 will have a good 3-5 degrees under it.

Dont waste your money on that Red Chinese junk. Buy a Thermalright SLK 900 or 947

Kind of impressed with the Silent Volcano. Cooling down a Barton 2600+ a tad better than my SLK-800a did. Weird.
