Hi,
I am looking to try sub zero overclocking and benching, and so am interested in buying a dice pot,
I have asked a couple of forum members who have been very helpful,
However, I was just wondering what the general agreement was on the thickness of the base, what thickness is good for dice, for ln2, and what is a good midway for both?

Thanks

Simply speaking: 10+mm for DICE and 15+mm for LN2. But more important is the inner surface build.
DICE should be as near to base as possible. So for example if there are lot tall pins, they won't let DICE pellets close to base and You have to use lot of acetone/ethanol.
With LN2, important is base weight and surface area.
It's pretty hard to use DICE with very good pot specially designed for LN2 (for example mine: http://ceemic.pri.ee/hardware/toru/ ).
But good pot for DICE works with LN2 also.

Just my 2 cents...

HI, where would you get LN2 in the usa? I see people with it in thermous's, where do you get the special containers.

sorry for a little off topic.

Hi,
Well, one of the pots I have been offered is 43mm base.....
Another is 25ish, and the other two are around 13mm
(gradually getting cheaper) with a copper base 13 for the same as an alu one with the same base thickness, and a 25mm copper one for less than a 14mm copper one, (from different people)
Would you reccomend copper, 25mm? (should be OK for both dice and ln2?)

Thanks

GeorgeStorm, these 25mm and 43mm have some holes also? Have You got internal pictures of them or somekind of drawing?

He is talking about my pots - some pics of bases. First is 43 mm tall, walls 5 mm, and base thickness is 20 mm in the thinnest place. In others, base thickness is 16-17 mm, when base is 25 mm tall.

The first one is good for both DICE and LN2
The other 2 have too low weight and surface area.

I know that, but price is also cheaper :) But they should be better than ordinary pots with 10-12 mm base with some holes. I've tested two pots on the same cpu (one with 12 mm flat base, second with 42 mm base with center pole) and difference was about 200-250 MHz in pc mark 2005, also nice gain in wprime 1024m and 3d mark 2006.

Ok, thanks, bartx, did yout est the difference between the middle one and the deepest one?
The only reason I was asking was because I was trying to get the best value for money, considering I dont have that much money, and so dont want to have to spend more than I need to just for a little increase in performance, :D
So, by the sounds of it, the most exspensive is the only real option, (if I want to use it for dice now and ln2 later)

Thanks
