ANy difference between all the different brands on 9800pros out there?

Im looking to buy one, i see Sapphire, Ati, Guillemont, Connectec3D, and Tyan.

Saphire is the cpeaest at 308$$ on a black PCB, is something wrong with this?

Anyrecomendations on whihc would yueld the best preformence, or if the preformence is really noticable?

:welcome: , i have a sapphire 9600p right now and i love it, if i wasnt going to go with the sapphire card, it would be the ATI.

Welcome to the Xtreme!

The difference between the brands is usually the memory used and therefore overclockability. Hercules I do believe overclock very well.

Just trying to bump this thread up for you, see if we can get the 9800Pro users to notice it :)

the black boards for the sapphire arn't pro's those are 9800 se's only 4 pipelines. you don't want that. I hear the Hercules and the Tyan both oc like a mother, but i saw a few people with a tyan who's clocks were amazing. I wanna get my hands on one of those :)

thats thef irst good thing ive heard about Tyan in a very long time.

I checked out the thing on the saphire black PCB, it IS in face a 9800pro with 8 pipes and all, it actaully ahs ddr700 speced memory, but the coolign seems to suck on that specific board and the only way youd be able to take advantrage of ocing is to get a better HS for it, which brings it up to the rest of the cards

Im thinking im gonna get a ATI branded 9800pro OEM if i can find it somewhere and be done with it, the Tyan is jsut too expensive and the herc even mroe so

The black PCB is the 9700 PCB instead of the red ATI spec 9800 PCB. You will get lower performance on the black PCB at the same clocks... some users on other forums have reported lower bench performance as much as 5-10%.

make sure the resistors are silver, you also get a better clock if they are silver than black
