Looks nice, my XPS 1210 doesn't look quite as sleek as this. I had to pay extra for a GPU back then and my battery sticks out at the back.

Check Dell Outlet. They usually have 10-20% off coupons on top of the outlet discount.

Also take a look at the Latitude E6400 (14") or E4300 (13") in Dell Outlet. I believe there are still some 20% coupons.

My friend got a E6400 of the following configuration last week:
Genuine Windows Vista Business
2 GB DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz (1 DIMMs)
160 GB Free Fall Sensor Hard Drive (7200RPM)
Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD With PC-Card
Integrated Webcam with digital Microphone
Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 (2.40GHz, 3M L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability
Dell Wireless 1510 802.11a/g/n Draft Mini Card
Fingerprint Reader Internal
6 Cell Primary Battery
90W AC Adapter
Back-lit Keyboard
Brushed Metal Black
Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth
14.1 inch WXGA+ LED Laptop Screen
$607 plus tax

Only downside compared to the Studio XPS is no DDR3.

Nice and clean looking. I like them both. May look into getting one since I destoried my laptop the other day lol.

Of course I would put Win7 on it though.

I'll stick with my really cheap Inspiron 13 that I got at the outlet store for $575 with a 2.4ghz CPU...if you keep browsing there, eventually you find a great price on any machine.

I'm sure in a month or two, these studio XPS laptops will also be there for 30% cheaper.

My Studio 13 arrived the other day been using it. At first the dell bloatware that came with it was annoying after getting rid of, ran fine. After it downloaded 3 updates my system locked up a couple of times........yep new laptop just locked up non-responsive twice, 1 min after booting up. Anyway it decided to work 3rd boot and got all the updates for vista and its running like a charm. The battery life is about 3 hours you can push extra 20min out of it if you set the screen levels down.

I posted a video on youtube (just type in "Studio XPS 13") since no one seemed to want to post one for this model.

so yeah happy to answer any questions :P

A lot of people also have the same lockup problems. :( They also mention blue screens and sound problems.

What do you like about it? It seems to weigh on the heavier side for a 13in laptop. :(

Well i cant really compare it to anything since its the first laptop i have actually owned, never really needed one before. Not had any BSOD's or audio problems. The speakers are actually better then i expected.
The one thing i really like is the touch pad has this pinch and zoom and it works literally everywhere images/files/folders/text. Made the mistake of ordering the wrong OS, got the 32bit by mistake :( and its only using 2.3gb or my 4gb available ram.

Also use the dell restore disk and deleted dells partitions & install fresh copy of vista.
Set 60gb os / 237gb downloaded all vista updates and so far have not experienced a single lock up. so i got to say its great so far ^^.

There was one issue with the IDT audio driver, it had a process that was constantly using up 50% CPU. Quick reinstall sorted that out though.

I had similar issues with my Inspiron 13 when I first got it...I wiped it clean and installed Vista 64 ultimate myself and used all updated drivers from Dell's site...after that, my laptop has worked excellent...right now, I'm testing windows 7 on it...by the way, my Inspiron 13 uses the same sound card and probably has similar hardware...Windows 7 after I got it up, downloaded a few updates from Microsoft and everything works great...I'm going back to Vista soon, but if anyone is thinking of testing Windows 7 on one of Dell's 13 inch laptops, go for it.

I find that so ridiculous how dell manage to pre-load their systems with crap and makes them have lock up problems. I stuck vista 64bit onto laptop now :) runs great.

Question. How do you use the 8 in 1 memory card reader to read ms pro duo cards? i pushed it in once with the plastic cover and it actually could read the card...the problem was getting it out because it just seems to go all the way in
