I have the following system:

XP1600+ AGOIA 4
KX7-333R
2x 256MB Mushkin PC3000
Siluro Ti4600

The processor (i think) maxes out @ 171.88mhz @ 1.85v 10.5x171.88 = 1804.74mhz (not stable, cant complete a 3d mark test)

10.5x170.88 is "stable" (can run a 3dmark test) But Win2k is BSOD'n on me, with errors like irq not less or equal than and other random ones..

Why this? isnt the BSOD irq not less etc etc means a memory problem?

The memory is @ max settings @ 2.89v.

Being a PC3000 stick its suposed to run @ 183mhz @ conservative timings @ 2.5v.

I have burned this memory A LOT (running SiSoft Memory Benchmark 1987 exact times @ 170.88 @ 2.89v)

Help!

Have you tried relaxing the memory timings alittle.

That error I think just reffers to an IRQ level problem..like an IRQ conflict. Try device manager to see if any IRQ conficts are occurring.

Thats one of the BSOD,s I was getting until I changed ram settings.

geez.. bad thing..

i know that BSOD means memory problems.. but i thought this mushkin that is suposed tu run @ 183mhz with normal timings would "work" @ 170.88mhz with max settings.

i will try with conservative timmings, thanks hardass.

sorry...I got it when I had an IRQ conflict with my nic card.

MAYBE can be an IRQ conflic but it will be so stupid cause i only have the Ti4600 on AGP (obvious) and a 56K 3Com modem on PCI 5

HUH strange s_ _t..

Now i know that my AGOIA cant do more than 1800 with 1.85v so it needs a volt mod.. (maybe later)

ok running 10.5x170.88 = 1794mhz

My comp was running fine, ran 3dmark a couple of times. average of 12290 3d marks. ( yesterday )

But now 3d mark crashes/doesn't complete/doesn't start the benchmark. ( today )

3D Mark is giving me errors like:

"The Application Lost Focus"
"Error of DirectX Run Out of memory (with 512MB? come on)"

Im not getting more BSODs at this time with max settings, but this errors of 3dmark are.. just painfull.

I tryed the following:

.- Lowering timings (same :banana::banana::banana:, crashed just after finishing car test high detail)

.- remove 1 stick of memory (same problem as above)

.- move the stick (just 1) in all the slots (same problem)

.- put the 2 sticks again and bench @ 169.88 FSB. ( 1194 3d marks).

My stable FSB was 170.88 now it downgraded to 169.88.. huh.. damnit.. i was getting 12290 3d marks..

had the same thing with my kr7a.... moved the nic to last pci and sound card to the 3rd... solved it for me..... guessing the kx7 would be the same.

Have you given any thought to unlocking it?

Only reason I ask is because, and this defies all sorts of logic, I've had situations where I couldn't get past 10.5X170 for the life of me. I'd relax timings, swap out pieces, add cooling, sacrifice small animals... nothing worked.

Then I would unlock the same chip and it'd do 180X10 without blinking.

thanks for the advise.. i will try unlocking it..

but i found what was the problem...

RivaTuner.. Weird eh?

not only does make my computer 1mhz (FSB) less stable, it also downgrades my 3d mark scores.

Was it RivaTuner itself or a setting in RivaTuner?

(wondering because I'm running RivaTuner)

I had all sorts of irq problems when I first set up my kg7/win98 box. I ended up using this setup for my kg7/kx7 with a sb live, nic and gf4.
Disable the two serial ports and the parallel port, this will free up irq3/4/7.
I placed the sb live in pci slot 3, the nic in slot 5, these slots do not share irqs.
I allocated irq3 to sblive and irq4 to the nic.

its riva tuner at all.. but only happens on some systems..

i used it b4 with WinXP without problems.. but in Win2k makes that strange thing.. it is also happening to Maranello..

weird thing cause it works just fine on other systems.
