Not sure this is the place, if not please remove to the right one )new here)
I have a SLK900U and a tornado 92mm and the temp is always between 40-47 IDLE and 45-50 FULL LOAD, and i've installed the sink right and put the thermalright grease right (and double checked to be sure)

I have an IC7 and a 2.4C (not OCed at the moment) and my case (if it actually matters) is Xaser 3

Why do i get bad temps? I thought that with this cooling i will get with no OC approx 35 IDLE.

thanks in advance

what are ambient temps?

but even when i use a fan (not a case one, a fan that you use to cool yourself :D) and the ambient is 20+- the CPU is on 40-47

It really depends on a whole bunch of variables.... different motherboards have differently calibrated diode readers, etc.... realistically speaking, it is difficult to tell what your real temperature is. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

The reason i am worried is because my Xheat sink (Zalman CNPS7000) gave me the same temps. maybe there is a jumper or a bios option i dont know of that makes CPU work until the diode say it's on 40 degrees or somethin and than it cools down?

The abit boards always display a high temp. The asus board make the opposite. If you are sure that you have the heatsink right installed them I think you dont need to be concern. And you have already seen that with another sink is the same.
I only have a question. You say about " thermalright grease" I wonder if you have put to much of it or if it is good at all. I will go with Artic ceramique.
Sorry for my bad english.

I agree the abit boards have a history of reading temps wrong. Just check out the abit forums and you will see alot of the same problems.

My board reads pretty much the same temps all the time. Even when I OC. The Abit's are notorius for reading high. I wouldn't worry about it.

I think that's the major reason right there. :)

I would also double check that your cables are tidy and you can kinda feel the air flow in the case.
