I just got my EEE today... and after booting it up and all that jazz for the first time... I noticed that there were two local drives in XP, one with 70 or so GB as my C: Drive, and another with 60 or so GB as my D: Drive... can anyone explain this?
If it's already partitioned then hopefully that means that I can dual-boot Ubuntu without incident :D

yeah go into computer management and it will tell you everything you need to know..

Control panel - administrative tools - computer management(assuming classic view)

My 160Gb in GA M912M is prepartitioned too . 3 actually , one is the hidden OEM recovery one. you can partition as you wish from within windows : delete D: and decrease C: , than create more as you wish. For Ubuntu/XP etc 10Gb is enough.

i like 20 gb for my XP installs as some games and apps must be installed on the system drive... (I.E. BF2) certainly you can move them later but you cant install if you dont have like 6 gigs on your main drive.

all asus lappy's are prepartioned you can wipe the 2nd partition or just install to it. it currently is set as a logical drive not a boot drive but a ubunto installer hould be able to install and use the 2nd partition without any modifications

Yeah, I have OCD with partitions and stuff, wiped the entire disc and installed XP Pro.

My work sells retail acer's and i have an aspire one, and all acers come with two or more partition, and it seems pretty random.

I do something of the sort. My four 74GB Raptors in RAID 0 are set up similarly. It's (69GB x 4) - 76GB = 200GB. I use the 76GB for Windows and some apps (I could probably subtract another 50GB from it and move it to the other partition) and then 200GB for applications and games.

Strange, I installed Battlefield 2 to my non-system drive...

My ASUS EEE 12GB is pre partitioned with 3 partitions. 1 is 4GB, 1 is 23MB and 1 is 8GB. Definitely not enough to run any decent OS so i believe i am forced to buy a bigger SSD. Now the main question is, should i buy a cheaper slower 40/15 SSD off newegg? or get a 75/55 SSD thats almost twice the price off memoryc.com?

I've formatted so doesn't make a difference anyway.

Why in gods name would they put a virus on a EEE netbook that makes no sense at all. Who ever you heard that from is a straight up idiot.
