The airport is just at the south end of the strip, it's in stone's throw distance of the strip

I was thinking something a little better in resolution than a web cam.
On this idea:

Stick a 2.5-6x lens on that and beautiful for close ups or out to 50ft easy.
Maybe 1-4 of the sony's I use for surveylance systems broadcasting to a web page. The capabilities to do that are in the software and I could send technically up to 16 camera shots on a split screen to a web page but 4 would be a better target number.
Now if you have a web page and address for me we could make this work..
I could pack everything I need into a suitcase, capture card and cameras, and get some coax and 18G for power in Vegas when I get there.

Movieman, what is your luggage allowance?
I regularly fly internationally with a suitcase filled with mobos, vids, coolers, pots etc.
So long as you stick to the weight limit (pffft - im always 30kg+) there cant be any problems (unless amercians think that PC's are dangerous too now? :P)

@ Jasmine, im sure you will do well and you have the full support of the community, so no need for nerves!

Actually, it seems like flights and hotel rooms aren't that hard to come by this year. Even though the spam from companies hasn't stopped for the last two months, there are rumors of some companies pulling out at the last minute too due to the economic situation. Heck, several hotels STILL have discounted rates for CES attendees.

What I am trying to say is if there is a will, there is a way.

I love driving in though the scenery is really nice while you comedown from Utah to Vegas. And the best thing is to drive at night, it's like you driving in a middle of nowhere in the desert and then all of a sudden you can see huge lights from 30 miles away.

Good luck driving there (or flying) in this snow storm. My wife just called me to tell she is stranded on I-89 right now.

I had to drive back from the airport on Friday in the middle of a flogging snow storm! It took 2 hours for a trip that typically takes 30 minutes in heavy traffic. I was lucky though--90% of flights were canceled and many travelers were seeking refuge in local h(/m)otels.

at this point most of the major hotels will be booked. You could try downtown (old vegas) or find something like a marriot etc nearby. There's some hotels 4 miles south down lv blvd.

I regularly fly internationally with a suitcase filled with mobos, vids, coolers, pots etc.
So long as you stick to the weight limit (pffft - im always 30kg+) there cant be any problems (unless amercians think that PC's are dangerous too now? :P)

I did that back in 2001. I drove to New York City on new years eve in my Chevrolet cavalier and slept in my car. I got on TV on times square and watched the ball drop. Best time i ever had. I called my mom from NYC and told her to record the whole ":banana::banana::banana::banana: Clark's New Years Eve" Event and what do ya know? I was on there for 12 seconds when they interviewed me. I'm from the middle of Kentucky so it was a very long drive. and very cold

We will be doing some challenging and experimental work which we will demonstrate at the event - hope you are there to be a part of it.
