Anyone got a KX7 that works with the 2200+ without unlocking?
I mean, has Abit finally figured out what was wrong and now manufactures boards that support the Tbred without unlocking?

Also, if you have one that is like this (runs Tbred without unlock) what does your serial # label have on it, v1.2?

Thanx :)

Yep...you need version 1.2. They have begun showing up in the local PC shop near me already.

Nice :D Now, if only Abit did not NEED to make a v1.2... If only the bloody things were 100% out of the box. Bleh. I hate paying for post-beta testing.

Does anyone know what the physical problem was?? Sure it had to be something physical like a missing 5th trace on the mobo to the 8X Bit Value signal bus which is connected to the 5th L3 that gets the "workaround" to enable older versions to run.

If it was a missing trace maybe some of the RMA'd mobos might have a noticable "wire" going to the AJ27 socket.

Just curious...think we'd all like to know.

I have a KX7 on its way back from Abit RMA and if it is a v1.2 I will tell you what the difference is. Well, hopefully. I dont remember the layout of my v1.0 board. ;)

The RMA applet on Abit site indicated that the serial # they are sending me is much newer than the one I sent them. The last four numbers on the serial changed from 000172 to 003579.

Well...that's kinda misleading. The 9K will support the XP 2200 if you're using a 1.2v or above KX7. Shame shame on Abit for this one.

But, I still find it funny that I have no problems on my original KX7 (1.0v) running an XP 2200. Had I not read about the reports, I would have never known. Heh heh...my XP 2200 was already unlocked when I booted it up for the first time in the KX7 so I never knew:)
