Hey guys. I haven't done a WC build since Summer 07' when I got my q6600 g0. I bought a rocketfish earlier this year and a microATX board is sitting in it.

So here's the plan:

I own an MCR320, 3 Sanyo Denki San Aces, Dtek Fuzion v1, and MCP655 pump.

I plan to buy the following:

Top cover for rocketfish (triple rad): $59.99
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=130_387&products_id=24603

7/16" ID (5/8" OD) Masterkleer General Purpose Clear PVC Tubing: 15-20 feet $12
http://www.petrastechshop.com/7id5odmagepu.html

A couple of questions.

1.Will the D-Tek FuZion v2 Quad Core Mid-Chamber Insert work in a v1 & if so, will it make a difference?

2. Is there a better block out there, or would the gains be minimal at best?

I'm asking b/c I am getting temps around 65C+ on prime95 which seem high considering only a quad is in the loop @ 1.48v.

I don't believe upgrading my motherboard would help my OC, nor do I want to invest in a new motherboard now since i7 is out and that would be a better upgrade path. I'd like to be able to push my OC more with lower temps. A new CPU is out of the question as anything below a q9550 wouldn't be worth it and I won't want to spend 300 on a cpu right now.

I will do this build after Christmas, so please give me some ideas guys and thanks for reading this far.

Instead of the mid chamber, couldn't get get the Quad nozzle that was originally made for the Fuzion v1?

Also, while the Fuzion is still a nice block, there are new ones that are out there. Check out this last and final waterblock roundup Martin did that includes most modern waterblocks. Click me! (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=206712)

Martin talked about the fuzion nozzle kit and he didn't think the quad nozzle did any good, may have actually hurt performance. Should be on his site. What is your ambient temps? What you have should be pretty good for a CPU only loop. I got 60c-65c under load on my Q6600 with a Fuzion, mcp355/petra top and MCR220 rad. Ambients were at 27c-28c.

My ambient is about 20C +/-1C and UT3 puts some of the cores to 59C. At the most, there's a 4C difference in temps between cores. Maybe the block isn't mounted properly? I'd think the extra length of the rad + an extra fan should yield me lower temps than you considering I can removed much more heat than an mcr220.

I guess I only need the lian li top and more tubing.

I have about 6 90 degree bends, so I know my flow is not the best atm and maybe a "straighter" path would yield better temps. That would have to be seen.

I'm not absolutely certain, but I do not think the lian li tops will fit the rocketfish. I was looking for the same thing for my build, but saw multiple accounts of people buying those tops only to find out they don't fit. I think the width of the top was the problem. I just bought a dremel and went to town :D

Someone on XS confirmed it fits:

I'm a little confused myself. I was hoping to actually see a real rocketfish with the top before buying. I might just have to drill out the top if this doesn't work.

I certainly hope it works for you!! I measured like 10 times and came up with the same measurements as the performancepcs list for that top?? I honestly didn't feel like waiting on it to get here to find out it didn't work so I started cutting. Like I said though, there is no reason it shouldn't fit if the measurements are the same.

I really want to see a picture before I do anything.

I don't need to do a case swap, but I would if the top fits. Thinking about it now though, maybe getting a 140mm rad might be something worth looking into since the top will accommodate it if I find a 140mm hole drill.

I wouldn't pay $60 for a top panel of a case. Cut the holes yourself and get a nice radgrill to cover any rough edges, that's what I did and it looks pretty good actually. Easier to cut square holes than round ones too. Can be cut easily with a dremel (or a die grinder in this case, my friend has one), and easy to smooth edges with the dremel sanding drums or just some sandpaper. Like this:

$60 but then you throw your older one on ebay and get $20-40 for it.
That said, I also really like the way you did it.

I might just have to borrow my friends dremel kit. I could wait and get a 140mm rad and I'd really have some bad ass cooling. Throw my mcr320 on the back and wow, I could cool everything w/o any issues.

that thing won't fit, my friend bought that for his rocket fish and it didn't fit. your better off using a dremel.

Thanks for the info.

I won't waste a lot of time and effort now.
