I've got an external waterbox with DD-D5, D-Tek FuZion and BIP III cooling a Q9450 @ 3.6GHz 1.4v 41C idle and 53C load. I'd like to switch to internal cooling in my Antec 1200 with something simple. I'm thinking Apogee Drive + 2x120 rad (looking for suggestions).

Is the Drive on par with the FuZion (i've got the original model with no mods)? I'm also considering the MCR220-QP Res since the res is built in. Good choice, or should I just fork up for the PA120.2? How about the DD Black Ice GT Stealth 240? I'm not cooling anything other than the cpu, so I don't need to go overboard. I just need something equal or better to the BIP III (hopinh the cheaper Stealth or MCR220 will do the trick).

Thanks for the help.

Hi douirc I wish I could give you a lot of detailed info on the radiators you mention. Me myself I'd go for the small Swiftech acrylic micro res by itself or a 240 rad with a res built in like the MCR220 £29 isn't to expensive for a 2 x 120 rad. I'm in exactly the same boat you are I have an Apogee Drive 350 on order by itself.I already have a normal first version Black Ice rad with tubing and a Typhoon floppy bay res.Nice little UV green res the Typhoons they cost £17 UK.I managed to get the Apogee 350 for £43 the all in one prebuilt Apogee kits are about £80 so I thought I'd put my own together more fun aswell.I think watercoolinguk.co.uk has a reduction on the XSPC RS240 UV Red/Orange *Limited Edition* rads and so does Specialtech on some 120 rads and fair prices on Black Ice rads thou most are sold out..Hope I've been of some help to you even if it's just a friendly reply.Good luck and let me know what you finally put together.

You could always get this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835108105). Not too bad if your just cooling the cpu.

actually, that might be perfect. Essentially what I was planning on building anyway, and the price is right. I can't seem to find any reviews on this though. Anyone have any links?

The apogee drive is fairly decent. I used it for a while. It is basically an apogee gt with an integrated ddc 3.1 pump. This can actually be modded to just a ddc 3.1 with a pump top if you decide to in the future. my only real issue with it is that you are stuck with 3/8" barbs and they break off very easily. I actually broke one of mine and had to mod a fitting onto it. I am not sure but I don't think the apogee gt out performs a fuzion. The QP radiators are decent rads and very good value/performance. My only issue with them is due to the integrated res they can only be mounted vertically (feel free to correct me if this is wrong). Otherwise the H2O-220 is a decent start. I didn't search extensively but Newegg seems to have the best price for it.

Hope this helped.

it doesnt outperform a fuzion but its great for compact pc's where having the pump and block integrated saves spaces ;)

yeah, that's exactly what i'm looking for. although my case is huge (antec 1200), I don't want to clutter it up with the watercooling equipment i have now. i did this with my last case (put the pump and res inside the case and mounted the rad on top) and it was a pain to do upgrades. had to breakdown the wc setup every time i swapped mobos and working with everything else was very cramped. this will allow me to remove the rad and block with a couple screws without taking apart the loop. that by itself is worth the money to save the headache.

anyway, thanks for all the responses. my new h2o-220 compact should be here monday! :)

1-2c loss vs Fuzion v1. Not too bad for a much more compacted setup!

rad can never be mounted in the horrizontal possition.

which is why i stopped recomending these res rads.

Why rads could not be mounted horizontaly, or did you mean only these res rads?
