Well every time I build one of these I say that it is going to be a testbench but it always ends up being a Cruncher. This time it will be my testing platform. I still have a 92mm fan to mount on the front as I have done in the past, change the Fillport to an Alphacool Ball Valve (ordered), and maybe a paint job come spring?

The fluid is distilled water and "Dowtherm" heat transfer fluid with one drop of aquarium algaecide.

Thanks.
Both the top and bottom are "Cutting Boards" purchased from Walmart. :)

The bottom has a sheet of heavy duty roofing material on it for the non-skid surface.

Very very nice Sig. Inspiring work.

love the results and the simple materials you used. might even give it a try someday.. if only I could find a way to keep my cat away from uncovered electronics.. :p:

Did you use a dremel to cut the holes in the board for the post to go through? Any chance you could make up a parts list?

There are threaded rods inside those square aluminum tubes, right?

From what I understand from your pictures, the threaded rods go through both cutting boards and that holds each level. The square tubes just support the bench some more, and cover up the threaded rods for anesthetic purposes.

I'm amazed at how clean your cuts are on the cutting boards. When I tried that, I couldn't get one straight line using a Dremel and the router attachment.

I used a drill bit (5/16") for the allthread holes. Then I used a "Unibit" to make a hole for the cutouts on the sides and back and I used a scroll saw to cut the holes. After that I used a plastic/wood rasp to smooth the cut along with 100 grit sandpaper.

1" aluminum square stock (4 x 8", 4 x 7")
3/4" aluminum square stock
1/4" allthread rod
(2) Cutting boards from Walmart
aluminum flat bar and angle from Lowes
(4) 1 1/4" brass angle brackets(4 per pack)
(4) 1/4" brass acorn nuts
assorted 1/4" nuts, washers, and lock washers. Also (4) 1/4" fender washers.
five rubber feet (HomeDepot)
(9) motherboard stand-offs
Rubber roofing material
6-32 x 1 1/4" machine screws (for fans)
assorted 6-32 x 3/8" pan head machine screws

* drill 7/64" holes and tap with 6-32 tap. *

You are quite welcome, it measures 15" x 20".

Here is a HighRise version that I built.

Nice Job SiG. It will make a very nice new cruncher.... (I'm betting your addicted just as bad, if not worse, than your "patients" over at WCG..)

I put together an open rig on my farm racks and it ends up crunching when I'm not experimenting or testing. That's also the rig I blew out the IP35 Pro when I noticed a loose screw on it, just after powering up...:( I'm much more careful with it now.

Regards,
Bob

Nice Sig!! Like the way it looks. So which Dowtherm did you use? & where did you get it? What are your temps & specs on the rig? Hehe, I know so many questions....:p:

Thanks Bob, now if I can only leave this one as a test bench. :shakes:

I used the first "Dowtherm" listed, I purchased it from my local HVAC parts supplier (I have had it for a while just never used it). I also have "DowFrost" which is the propylene glycol version. But it is more viscous and propylene has worse heat transfer properties. This has a fluorescent color to it to aide in leak checking and was designed as a heat transfer fluid with freeze and corrosion protection added. So far I have been very happy with it.

I currently have an e8500 "E0" on at testing and have been able to do 4203 (9 x 467) and 4160 (8 x 520). Prime 95 my temps are 43c on both cores. Next step will be 8 x 530 to see what she will do and keep going up if possible with this chip and the P35 chipset. After this chip I want to try one of my X3350 "E0" quads.

It is just on a P5K Premium, Fuzion v1, MCW30 (NB), EK Asus3a on Mosfets and a Enzotech SLF-1 on the SB. MCP655, Micro-Res, and 7/16" MasterKleer tubing with a MCR320 rad.
