Hi guys,

I just received a Foxconn Avenger sample (thanks Greta). At the moment i am waiting some D9GTS memories to play with. Hopefully in the middle of the week i will post the first results. But for the moment take a look some photos
I cant say anything yet, but the components foxconn used in this mobo is top quality. Capacitors are really huge, short lines, backplate for the heatsinks, screws and no push pins etc. I hope that this chip which connects the two pcie will do its job.

Today i had some free time to play with my toys after long time absense.
I started with the insulation. First time i am using this kneaded rubber material and i have to say that i am impressed!

The processor is lemon... i tested it in a different mobo with the same results.
Not bad for a p45 mobo i think. The issue with the memories is known to foxconn enginners and as far as i know they are working on it.
Next time i will test the crossfire chip to see how it performs :)

@quake6
As i said in my 1st post it is a sample from the manufacturer.

@jason4207
This is a sample. Not from the complete production line. Unfortunately the panel is missing.

Yes but will it be able to do better then this: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=3409265&postcount=233 and almost 5000Mhz with a Q9650?

I hardly doubt it. But the board looks slick and beautiful if it costs less then $99 I will get one.

i quote jason. quickly googled and found that that control panel seems to be VERY interesting. Monitoring bios infos and changing clocks without the slightest use of the processor power. anyone knows how much the board will cost? i bet around 140$

Hi guys,

Unfortunately i don't know the price yet, but don't expect to be in 99$ range. The quality of parts is high ;)

Another thing that i didnt mention before is that the power mosfets are realy realy cool. Not even warm.
I dont understand why to be honest. Probably is a new technology or sth... At 5400@wprime1024 the temperature was ~30c degrees :)

And at last i wanna say that this cpu in avenger went ~80-90mhz more (benchable) with 0,08v less compared to Biostar I45 Tpower.

@Odin Yes it has many bling bling lights and you can configure them through aegis panel. What i did was to disable all :D

Right man I am in the same boat as you (well you were in ) I do have a Black ops atm. But want something to push my E8600 and my Tri-Fire harder. Besides the cpu you have Sniipe_Dogg we were going to have about the same set up even the memory CSX 4GB. Maybe I can get saaya to sent me an Avenger;);). Naw Saaya just tell me where to buy it. Lol

So, where is the rest of the "review"?? Hows this board handle 2 cards in crossfire?? How's it handle 8gb of ram??? What type of clocks will it do with a 45/65mm quad??? I STILL say this board is a myth, I have only seen like 4-5 pics of it on the net, and NO concrete reviews. i'am not a hardcore bencher and the cpu is a quad retail and only on water
we shaw what she can do with C2D's with was the main propose of the board
the Crossfire was tested i thing from someone else on the other avenger thread but it's the same as X48
the delays i thing they are because of the "ram issue"

crank vtt and vnb
vnb 1.7-1.8, vtt to 1.5 (or maybe it was 1.5-1.6?), vcore to 1.45, pll (not that it matters much) to 1.71. that got me 8x550fsb on my Q9450 on EP45-UD3P, which is a good measure of a P45.

Slovnaft i'am sorry but it cant go higher than 3.9Ghz my cpu it boots @ 500x8 but no windows :) i'am sure it's the chip it did the same Mhz on an Ip35 Pro
systemviper she cant clock more than 1700 the ram so the dividers are not usable at the moment 1.2 and 1.3,2 works fine untill 1500~Mhz then she is not posting :)
as far i know blood rage has no problem with that i know benchzoner reached 2100+ Mhz

What is latest bios for this POS board?
I'm having serious problems.
Sometimes board boots fine and sometimes not, pc beeber sounds beeep, BEEEP, beep and code differs every time on diagnostic display. And sometimes pc beeper is quiet and led display shows FF and screen stays black.
So it resets bios settings in about 80% of boot times.

Hi, I keep reading about the Foxconn

But i can't seem to find out what it is, can someone tell me what it is and does it effect the x58 bloodrage?

It's what I like to call "The P45 DDR3 syndrome".
As some of you may recall there were some serious memory overclocking on some P45 DDR3 boards ( the Asus P5Q3 Deluxe for example ) and some that had problems clocking the memory within the first few weeks near & after the "public launch" of the boards, but then after a few BIOS releases they started overclocking the DDR3 RAM great, actually not just great, they were hitting DDR3-2100+ with flying colors :p:
Especially the Gigabyte EP45T-Extreme proved to be one of the best DDR3 RAM overclocking boards.
Some had some success with the P5Q3 Deluxe ( like hitting DDR3-2000 stable ) but some didn't even manage to get DDR3-1800 stable.
Looks like Asus didn't figure out what Gigabyte and DFI found out.

Let's wait for a new BIOS from Foxconn to see if the Avenger will start hitting high DDR3 frequencies or not.
Even if it won't, it can still be a good board for people that are not interested in hitting enormously high DDR3 speeds that they're not going to benefit from ( since they won't be benchmarking competitively or run heavily RAM throughput dependent scientific applications, etc ).

where the heck did you all get this board from??????

They're beta testing samples & review samples, directly sent to some people by Foxconn.

Yeah I did have that B10A allready.
There must be something in P45 as all other boards did also take long time to get DDR3 on high speeds like Benchzowner said, P5Q3 an Gigabyte GA-EP45T Extreme.
Damn but I`m angry for my self as I did have little water accident with my Extreme board and it did loose one memory channel.

Vatos_locos
01-21-2009, 11:39 AM
I found another strange thing :p:

my board has the B10A at bios chip 2 and the first that came from foxconn at bios chip 1.
I was using the chip 1 with the older bios and i didn't got those reset all the time and 3.6Ghz with my Q9450 stable anything more was rubbish...

Then i said to give a go with the bios chip 2

indeed the newer bios ( bios chip2 ) clock's better i got 3.7Ghz Stable 8hr prime straight, but the B10A has the Clear/Reset on boot problem.

Almost all the time the board reset it self after the post code 50,then shut down - boot by itself C1 - shut's down again - A1 CMOS clear.

even at stock settings... :(
so foxconn combine those two bios :D

I have excactly same thing.
Every frickin time I press reset or selecet restart from windows, screen satys black and nuthing happens. Only way to get over from this is play with PSU´s power button and reset putton like zillion times.
And when board agrees to boot it has cleared bios settings to default.

Vatos_locos

probably a bios bug or something it doesn't do it with the older bios i have in the other chip...
with Quad i didn't manage to go over 470 stable i can run prime forever at 465fsb but at 470 it is not stable at all...
i still can bench @ 475Mhz...

this is the max fsb i could post in windows but not stable http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=485903
i tried with x6, but the same fsb :/
my chip can do for sure 480FSB stable so it's the bios

sure it needs some tweaking from foxconn to clock quads better, fix the clear reboot, think and the memory oc

oh and those led around the board :p: it should be nice to have an option to let them on and not blinking
and the software is not so stable :p under Xp Sp3 and Vista Ultimate Sp1 every time it runs the board freezes :p:

He can give us some answers..

Saaya may be/is absent due to personal issues.
Last time we talked he told me that he'll be available on MSN more than he used to ( he can't get on MSN when at work, Foxconn's admins blocked MSN traffic ), I'm guessing that he's staying home for a while.

Well, here it is almost the middle of Feb, and still no release on the Avenger yet... Thought it was supposed to be the 20th of Jan, guess it depends on what DECADE your talking about....:shakes:

Sorry but why don't you guys get over this board and move on. Just make the math, even if it comes out it will cost 3 times more then others that already outperforms this one in every single comparison.

Hi,
Try these settings: 2.0v for mem, mem will go a bit more but looses stability.

Also I noticed, when adding memory sticks, or removing sticks, at first boot after this event, check bios voltage on memory as it automatically defaults to 1.64v, this caused a few problems for me! till I got to grips with it, also with 4 sticks it tkes more volts than 2 sticks about 0.1v more

Hope this helps

i wasn't able to play this time because of work so the computer was turned off most of the time and when i pused the power button it worked again with 4 sticks :p maybe the board needed sometime alone :p
anyways i stayed here now and waiting for the new bios...
my avenger can't do more than 1500 on the rams otherwise.

considering that this board doesnt even exist as far as the retail market is concerned... I dont think a new BIOS would be in order
