Hows it going people.

Well I am building a new system after 4 and a half years of my old one.(P4 2.8g 1g pc2700 ram) So i decided its about dang time I build a new system. after hours and hours of research (and my cousin's recent success with a cheaper Foxconn mobo) I bought a Destroyer. :D I have never spent this much on a mobo before:eek:, But I feel confident It will be a rock'n board once I order the rest of the stuff to complete this build in a week and a half. I'm going to use the on board video for now, then up grade the video in a few months.

What I bought so far...

1x Foxconn Destroyer (Mobo);)

1x OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800

To be bought in a week and half...

1x AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Brisbane 2.7GHz (was going to get a phenom, but decided to save some money now and get a Phenom II in a few months when they come out)

1x CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W

1x Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

1x LG 22X DVD±R DVD Burner

Anything I should know before I build? stuff to look out for?

Any suggestions on what one I should get? I don't have a lot of money but $60 or lower I might be able to find soon. My main concern with selecting one is, will it fit in my case with my ram.(there so dang big these days)

Edit: What do you guys ( & gals) think about this one? The Fan (http://www.svc.com/fan-extreme.html)
the dimensions I read seem like it will fit and it looks like it can cool the CPU well? yay,...nay?

sorry if I seem dumb to all this. I knew all I could need to know about building computers 4 years ago. They have changed a lot, but I'm picking up where I left off. Just a lot of info to process.

ya that looks like fun anything over stock helps ...well almost always
the new direct heat pipe coolers by ximetech (sp) seem to do well and kinda cheap compared to the TRUE (thermalright) which seems to be the best at air cooling

that one looks to be fore Intel cpu's only.

Xigmatek looks good for the price, definitely food for thought.

OK, do you guys think for this setup it will be easy to get the CPU to 3.1GHz and the ram to 1000MHz? that's my goal as of now.

ya you may want to look at some higher ram for shure if thats your goal not all 800 ram esp 2gig sticks wont clock to 1000 or better (some do tho )
you may want to look at some 1066 or better (thier are some good buy's in the for sale section) ddr2 is getting cheaper every day :D

good luck on your build

yeah it seems to be ;o

heres another one, older version (Socket 754/939/940/AM2).

Arctic Cooling Freezer XTREME should be fine tho...

well if I don't get 1000MHz I'm not going to be upset or anything, just optimistic ya know?

This system that you are building is really close to mine. I went with my 5600+ and the xigmatek HSF and so far have been getting real good results. I have it at 3.35Ghz so far w/out touching cpu volts yet. I don't think that I will either. I have found that getting the ram speed up makes the biggest difference in performance with this mobo. Get good ram, and you will really thank yourself. SLI works really well on this mobo also. Just fuel for thought.

OK, So SVC Dropped the ball, so to speak...

The freezer Xtream is not instock..... even though it says it is....

and with no other CPU cooler there in my price range that I like, I need help picking out a different one...

my main concern with most coolers out there is ram clearance. my ram is taller than normal ram do to the heat pipe on them.

so far im looking at...
XIGMATEK HDT-RS1283 120mm Red Scorpion (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233012)
XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle same as Red Scorpion only cheeper, no led in fan, and has more air flow (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233003)
Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120mm "Core Contact Freezer" (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835207004)
or suck it up and pay the $15 more for the Freezer Xtream at newegg..
ARCTIC COOLING AC-Freezer XTREME 120mm (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186028)

The XIGMATEK's would work but, based on what I can see in the pics for the mounting brackets it will not mount with the air blowing to the back of the case. Which means it will not work with my ram. Am I wrong, and it can be mounted correctly, or will they not work for me.

I have the non red scorpion xigmatek s-1283, and I love it. It cools really well, especially for the price. If I had to do it again, I still would be with that one.

I would have gotten that one if I could mount it the right way, but the way it mounts it would not fit in my case with my ram.(I found the manual online) so, I just took the hit to my wallet and paid the extra $15 at newegg for the freezer xtream.

Yeah, that is the problem with that cooler. It is too big for any ram with coolers attached. I can only fit two sticks of the OCZ ram that I am using due to the cooler on the RAM. I might look into upgrading to 2 sticks of 4gb's each, but I think this will be more than enough for now. I am going to wait for the deneb's to come out, and see what I can do from there.
