I have the auth to build a new boxen. Have settled on the P4T533/4200 combo and would like to hit 3 GHz on air. What would be the best CPU speed 2.26, 2.4 or 2.53? I have the budget so no worries I just don't want to flush $. Also, know of a good NB cooler for this mobo?

I think the optical shrink has gotten to the 2.26's. Those seem to be ideal due to price.

For a cooler for the NB, you could always go to the shack for one of their mini HS/F. Worked well enough for me.

actualy the ram dosen`t allow me to use +170FSB with on 3 on this board....
might need a better ram....

Right now, I would forget the P4T533 until Asus gets the bugs sorted out.

for any RDRAM board it's probabaly better to go for a CPU with a higher mutliplier, because RDRAM is not getting as high in frequency as DDR. I can see this with my 2.26: I get it to 3080 on my ND7-II but "only" to 3020 on the P4T533. I guess a 2.4 would do better, becuase of the x18 mulriplier.

FT: Yeah I have been keeping updated and will probably wait OR get into a SiS648 board.

Chainy: Thanks for the 'real' numbers :) ...BTW what FSB/Vcore are you running on your P4T/2.26 to hit 3020 (is that MB/sec or MHz?)

Well I'm about to give up on this mobo. My IT7 would run 3D2001 with my 2.26 as high as 195, this Asus has been a pain for a week and I've been trying all sorts of things. I was able to get into Windows at 198, BUT I can't even run 3D past 188.
195 to 188 is a big loss of MHz.

OPP,

Ya seen the 16x198 screenie? I took everything apart the other day, and it turns out I only had contact with 1/3 of the heatspreader. That'd explain why my temps seemed to hit 25C stressed and only -3 idle

I'm thinking 200x16 might be achievable, as a screenshot. Not sure about stability, but I can tell you at 198 it gave me BSOD's from the CPU that refused to go any further, it didnt seem to be the mainboard holding me back. 190 was definately possible for 3Dmark I *think*, although not in 1 straight run because my CPU was getting slightly too hot ;)
So *if* the board wasnt limiting me, I wouldnt mind skipping the whole memory x4 thing and simply going for the 190s x3.
Wouldnt mind running at 200 either but that could be asking for too much.

My x4 mode sucks... 3Dmark will run at 162x4, prime95 will run at 152. 154 blue screens on me after 5 minutes.... no voltage mod to the RIMM yet tho
