Hey guys,

Im building a new rig for xmas, Q6600 on a UD3P and a 4850.

I'm a total noob to watercooling, I've gone water once before but it wan't really anything major.

Consited of a $99 Pre-Filled AlphaCool kit that cooled my 3700 SD to 40c idle :ROTF:

Anyway my budget is £160 / $300. I wan't to cool both the CPU & GPU. Maybe the Northbridge, I've heard P45 get really hot.

The case I'll be using is the Silverstone Kublai KL01B-W.

Here a few specs,

Internal 3.5" x 4 (vibration dampening)
- Front 1 x 120mm intake fan, 1200rpm
- Rear 1 x 120mm exhaust fan, 1200rpm

I understand I'll be needing a pump, tubing, res, rad, fans, coolant, and blocks. oh and barbs?

I have a few questions.

Whats the best method to secure the tubes down to the blocks?
Should I go with 1 or 2 loops?
Whats the best diameter tubing to go for?

And could I be reccomended some parts. I have no idea what performs like what. Im browsing now for some reviews:up: This system will need to be running for at least a year, I won't be doing any major upgrades during that time. Oh and i don't mind the maintanence work

Thanks a lot. :)

Just checking whether my blockk, pump, res & rad include barbs with them.

Also is there a NB block avaliable anywhere for the UD3P?

For now i'm just going to cool the CPU and maybe NB, ain't got enough cash for the GPU yet. I'll set up the new system, sell parts from my old one and then get a gpu block.

Also, whats the best dye to use? I'll probably go blue / green. Won't be using UV lighting, Is there White die avaliable anywhere?

*Goes to look in the WC Case gallery*

A single rad is no where near good enough to cool a cpu and gpu. With your budget, I would recommend an MCR320 with 3 medium Yates, an MCW60 for your gpu with ramsinks, a GTZ for your cpu, and a D5 or an MCP355 with XSPC top. A way to improve that with extra cash is to use a PA120.3 instead of the MCR, but that adds another $70. If you want to cool your nb, I would use an MCW30 from swiftech. I would avoid the Supreme in a multiblock loop because it is very restrictive.

Thanks for replying :)

Do you know of a case that will house a Triple rad for under $200?

I've taken the advice and have been re-browsing:p: I think I'll order from ChilledPC once I have finished my list.

There's a MCW60 Here, http://specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/product.php?productid=2834

Will it definitley fit on my 4850? I have a Sapphire card, I assume it's a reference card but i'll have to check. Also what ramblocks should I get? Theres a few listed.

Last thing, how are the XSPC Rad's? Even the Swiftech rads are quite expensive!

mcw-60's will most definitely fit on the 4850, no modding needed

well i guess that will be your self decision which rad that affordable to you...for me, i still suggest you to take MCR320 if its come to your max budget, there are good radiator with great price...i use them from my first LC's, until now they still the best radiator for me

check martinm120 review about MCR320 (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=2667456&postcount=8)...hope it will help..and for XSPC rads, can't find any review about it thought, but guys here will help you to find a better rad that comes in your budget...

I run Q6600 with a 2900pro in the loop my H2O kit is:-

Swiftech MCP655 Pump
Swiftech Apogee GT CPU Block
Swiftech MR220 Dual radiator
Danger Den 29XT GPU Block (lucky eBay purchase)

The 2900 pro is a hot chip and a dual rad manages both that and my Q6600 easily even with ~50% OC's on both.

Also I wouldn't advise NB water cooling, a good sink like the Thermalright HR-05 and a small fan will easily cope with whatever cooling is required, but if you do decide to watercool it then I would recommend having a browse of eBay as NB blocks frequently go for under £5.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I've decided to pick up a Hiper Orisis Black GM Case, Picking up a dremel tomorrow, an will stick a 240 rad up top. :)

Still undecided on blocks, I'll go with 1/2 ID tubing along with a DDC or D5

I'll stick to air cooling my NB for now, thank's for that suggestion! How is the OCZ Block with flow restrictions? Would it be usable for a multiblock loop?
