Well, being a casemodder for 2 years it was hard to see my benching rig looks like technogenic octopus.
SO, here it is - Project Phaseshifter.Two. Custom acrylic laser-cut side and top panels, engraving "ELETEK. Phaseshifter. Two", two laser-cut 80mm "biohazard" blowholes. EXOS is modded with 3x red LED fans. Neon string floppy cable, rheobus, L.I.S LCD... And a lot of light from 2x SunBeam CCFLs with sound activation module, SunBeam "liquid neon" light and 3 red Akasa LED fans - two on side blowholes and one behind the compressor.

I know that Marci and Larsa also have nice OCing rigs. Maybe this is the place to demonstrate 'em? Let's show that xtreme overclockers also like nice looking PCs :)
Or not???

So, what do you think of combining overcklocking and modding, guys?

Looks great :D

Im not a big fan of the vapo frontpanne myself, if have probably changed it

I like that neon string floppy cable.
The exos looks good with the red fans they should make it like that from new.

Personally although I have a LianLI and stealthed drives my casemods stop there... There are allways wires out the side and as I tend to change hardware a fair bit even if I do tidy up, its messy again the next week.

Me and modding aren't great friend mostly cause i don't have the tools and then because i've always something to do inside the case (yeah the beige thing on the floor) :)
Anyway that's a great mod you've congrat

Would have been more impressive if the plexiglass matched the curve of the front panel. :D

Nice mod. :)

Although I really dig your case and big respect for your work there personally I don't really care that much how mine looks since it is placed behind curtains in front of an open window to get that last bit of cool air inside :)

Very nice !!! I'm a little to conservative to go that route in fact these days im sorta caseless, but I can see how it would turn some heads at a lan party !!! My son is into case modding alittle bit (he's 7) and he is all about neon and flashing lights ! I'll show him your rig and see what he would like to borrow from your setup to go in his.

Once agin ! :toast:

What is the lcd screen and how much did it costed you?

Marci
10-20-2003, 07:33 AM
"Lost in Space" LCD... think Highspeedpc.com do em in the US, and coolcasemods.com in the UK...

Looks tops d00d!! Now get that metal polished... it ain't shiny enough.... I wanna be blinded!

Trust me on this, nothin loox better than a polished up vapo.... every copper line etc can be polishe dup with the greatest of ease with metal cleaner... mirror finish... so can the entire chassis as it's galvanized steel... makes all the lighting about 40% more effective due to all the reflections...

Marci

Side note... U got any UV goin on in there? You could get some really gr8 looking additional effects in that case if u attack some of the boards etc with UV Reactive paint...

Avoid sitting the LiquidNeons in sunlight for lengths of time too, they discharge until about 1" of the tube is reacting and the rest is dead... all depends where you have the unit positioned...

Might have a contact for getting a replacement moulded front made soon too... that's the biggest butt pain with these vapos... can't do naff all with the front other than add bay devices really...

Definitely a show-stopper LAN rig that one...

Tnx, Marci!
Idea of polishing Vapo is brilliant! I wonder if it possible to polish the compressor so it looks like hot-rod engine;)
As for UV - just yesterday we received first BIG shipment of SunBeam goods... Yes, i have UV... A lot of UV:)
LiquidNeon was just an experiment - i didn't like it much, so throw it away already.

There will be a modding contest in Ukraine in December, supported by Intel and Samsung. Going to improve the case for the contest so i'll be back in a month:)

You could either sand back the paint off the compressor and shiny the metal underneath up, but you'd need to treat it to prevent corrosion... or you could just use metallic spray paint directly onto the compressor... make sure whatever paint u use can withstand temps upto 60 deg C to be safe... then add another fan into the top of the case sucking from the compressor from above or the side as by changing compressor color from black to anything else will reduce it's ability to radiate it's accumulated heat.... better safe than sorry....

10-24-2003, 06:03 AM
how do you get this mirror finish on bare metal?

Marci
10-24-2003, 06:28 AM
Duraglit and elbow grease.... dunno what it's called in US... just a household abrasive metal cleaner for cleaning up ornaments n' suchlike.

S'just lucky that copper and galvanized steel shine up nicely... and the vapo case is made entirely from galv steel with all tubing in copper...

If your going to sand down the steal though, make sure you get something on top of it after to protect the surface. Otherwise it'll just start too look like crap after a while. Something like clearcoat.

Really nice looking case though, I imagine it probably looks 10x better in person too!
