Im planning on building a new computer for christmas and I have everything pretty much figured out, except Im not sure if a corsair hx1000w psu will be enough for my new system.
The specs of my new system are:
Core i7 940 (overclocked)
6GB DDR3
3x gtx260 216 videocards (overclocked)
roughly 10 120mm fans
2 watercooling pumps
2 hdd's (a raptor 150gb and a 1tb samsung)
the cpu and videocards will be watercooled and overclocked

Should be fine. (I hope so, since I'm planning on running almost the same system, but with 280s)

It will be more then enough.. the hx 1000w is an absolute beast.

as long as you don't volt-mod the 3 videocards you should be A-OK, maybe get a 150w meanwell to run everything that isn't the computer components (fans, pumps, lights) but only if you get it all together and find that it doesnt quite work right. ;)

I just started some 12GB testing and got a couple of pleasant surprises on the ASUS P6T Deluxe. I have not yet tested this on other MOBOs but I expect the same result as this relies on the CPU + IMC. This is with an EX 965 Extreme.

1: No extra QPI voltage is required to be stable at 1600 8-8-8-24 with 6 up / 12GB.

2. The system does not revert to a slower command or data rate running 6 up.

More testing to follow
