Well ben using HYDORS for a long time..Nice price for a 700+GPh 120volt.

By the way i run Hydors (NON stop) 3years in Saltwater....Reliable!

They even survive power outages,,trust me:D

Has a pretty low max head at 7.5 feet.

Which means it probably will pale in comparison to the venerable D5 in a loop with any restriction.

Max flow rate means nothing without a good amount of head.

You call that a pump? :)

Now this is a pump... This is one bad arse Iwaki. But you will need 208/240/480vac three phase to run it.

Oh, and you had better use good clamps. :ROTF:

LMAO @ b@llz0r, I need a couple of those in series plz. @ gOtVoltage - you keep using the Hydors, that leaves more good pumps for the rest of us.

Not a bad idea for those of us who need submersible pumps...

There IS a market for that, you know...

What are you looking for, max pressure or max flow? I do work on pumps that exceed 90000 psi while they have minuscule flow, but there are also pumps that are used for evacuating water rapidly and can flow thousands of gallons per hour but the pressure is minimal.

During the summer I work daily with pumping units that run center pivot and wheel move irrigation systems.. 25-60psi and a V-8 engine (or 3-phase electric) to power them lol :D

edit - NICE!! http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem~idProduct~JW1123.html

edit 2 - Oh wow, these would be awesome for benching lol ;) http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_AquariumPage~PageAlias~chillers__index.html

They are being installed in an underground mine, 5 in series to generate ~400m of head

By the looks of things, a D5 would probably outperform it.

Why not just use a D5 w/ a Detroit top..if you want extra pressure [still cheaper than Iwaki IMO]..and still variable speed..thats the way to go. Those pump-tops were going like hot-cakes over on OCN a while back..I'm sure there are still some floating around.
