Case Modding

Got the case out and had a look how to fit the cooling inside it.
Going to put an XSPC RS240 radiator in the front after i've modded the fans to 120mm instead of those 80mm's.

http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w292/marcus000/V300/03.jpg

First problem I can see is the 2 external 3.5" drive bays.
They're going to fowl on any radiator I try to fit in there so i'm gonna have to zip those off.

http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w292/marcus000/V300/05.jpg

I got a few other bits & pieces done today whilst I had the jigsaw out.
Cut a piece of aluminum to size which will fasten the bottom of the 5.25" drives together after i've cut out the 3.5" bays.

http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w292/marcus000/V300/07.jpg

Also cut another piece to size, once i've finished with this it'll accept 120mm fans instead of the tiny 80mm fans.
Got this idea from another V300 build I found on the net.

http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w292/marcus000/V300/06.jpg

I've started looking at pump mounting, the Xirex Res top is about 15mm too tall thats that idea down the pan.
Currently looking at mounting an EK 150ml reservoir somewhere and using a normal DDC top instead.

----------------------------------------------

I went out and bought a new pack of Dremel Cut-off Wheels because I couldn't get at the drive bays with a jigsaw.
I've cut the 3.5" bays off the bottom of the 5.25" bays in order to allow me to fit the radiator in the front of the case.

looks very nice so far. are you planing something special or will it be the standard watercooling mod for the v300 with good craftsmanship?

Camera is a Fujifilm Finepix S602Z, pics taken in my garage under some lamps. :)
Not bad for a 6mp camera, just needs decent lighting to make it work. ;)

The pic editing is pretty simple, just copy and paste the pics on top of each other, turn one copy to black and white and use the rubber tool on the coloured copy to delete eveything you don't want to show up in colour.

Thanks man, i'm just trying to keep this as clean as possible really.
There's a few things different about this, i'm making new side panels for one and few other bits n pieces like that. :)

Back onto the update, not much but hey!

I just got the drive bays back from the powder coaters the other morning, came out perfect as always.
I gave them the mobo tray and a few other bits and pieces whilst I was there as well, should have those back this Friday! :D

Also, whilst I was doing some cable braiding last night I decided to grab my fans and braid them blue.

AC Ryan braid sucks ass though, it's really thin & see through stuff so i'm cutting it off and just gonna use my normal thick black stuff.

http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w292/marcus000/V300/19.jpg

I've also just spent the last hour doing all the CAD drawings for the new side panels and the rear panel, gonna e-mail them to the laser cutters in the morning, need to get to sleep now (it's 6:00am!).

Anyway, let me know what you think, i'm aiming to make the sides look factory finished. :)

=====================================

I kinda like this as a logo, it looks somewhat classy and once it's lit up, should look sweet.

They've gone to be coated satin black with a few other pieces and I need to get some chunky acrylic, 5mm-8mm and then cut a piece to sandwich between the 2 plates together and illuminate it with a couple of blue LEDs.

Couple of new sides lasered from 2mm Aluminium, need to be painted or anodised now. :)

Thanks but nope, I only do photography as it comes hand in hand with PC building (or at least it does on this forum :p:)

Camera is only a Fujifilm Finepix S602Z, 6 megapixel jobby and some £30 lamps off eBay.
It's all about lighting.

Equipment is only 33% of photography, the other two thirds is skill ;)
