Wanted to build a Massive Cooling tower. (DAYAM YOU CD and DAYAM YOU SLAPPY)

So im in the process of starting one.

Parts have been ordered, all thats left is planning and organization.

Hardware:

2 x Fesser 480
8 X Sanace
16 x Yate's
2 x Magicool 400 res's <--- wanted to try something besides EK for once.
Cheapo ATX PSU (Gonna mod this making this a single unit which goes on and off via switch on the rear)
Sunbeam Rheobuss Extreme

2 x DDC-2
1 X DDC -1

Lots of Bitspower Fittings.

Here is my original sketch up, pardon the mess, i dont like to render stuff, as it takes me more time then drawing. :X

Top View:
http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p73/aigomorla/OracleDesignTop0001.jpg

I am stacking the radiators next to each other. In the middle will be 2 stacked sanaces' with 25mm shrouds in the front and rear. This will be my main driving force in fan.

The ends of each rad will again have 25mm yates, i dont know if im gonna add a shroud, the unit is becoming VERY large, faster then i thought it would be.

The routing for the tubes is a little bit funky. This is a triple (or possibly Quad) DDC system. Havent decided on yet, and depends on how far the unit will be.

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p73/aigomorla/Oracledesignfront.jpg

Routing i hope you guys can see this. But it shows how i intend to lay out the tubing. Still planning, and my fessers arrive today, so i'll post pictures up.

The dual DDC inlet pump you guys are probably curious:

you ordered fans from petra right? doesnt take more then 2 days for me

Actually no...

i got them from jab-tech as the yates arent being used to push air.

i got 8 san aces in the middle for that.

The yates on the sides at most will only allow unrestricted access for the sanaces to dominate.

And the other half im gona gut the interior and paint so i can make shrouds out of them.

NaeKuh
11-07-2008, 01:52 PM
well im even thinkn about adding low wattage TECs on the behind of those pumps.

18W DDC would put out around 18W.

So a 40W TEC should be more then enough. Use a cold plate with pads, clamp a TEC behind, add a copper heat sink... Uber DDC cooling unit.

im hoping having 126mm gap inbetween the 2 rads will allow me to put BP 90's in.

Just recently added push pull here, but my UFO won't be accepting any shrouds here

incase anyone is curious,

Magicool res's are cross compatiable with EK res's.

I finished modding a PSU.

Talk about recycling POS PSUs
But its perfect, its nickle black, small, and has all the connectors i need. Also adds bling to oracle.

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p73/aigomorla/IMG_0102.jpg

Gutted the interior, left the molex and 1 sata, i dont know why, i just felt i might need this later on.

Cables left over:
http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p73/aigomorla/IMG_0103.jpg

I crossed the green and black one forever. The PSU now works via switch on rear.

Here i finish testing. Woot PSU's alive!

LOL...

Fans should arrive today.

FedEx misseed my shippment. Basically to sum it up, its 2 fesser 480's sandwitched between 8 san aces.

So

Fesser - 25mm shroud - 38mm sanace - 38mm san ace - 25mm shroud - fesser

Thats the core. :P

how did you break the iron? ive yet to break one out of my like 5 :p:

quit messing with those cheap irons, get a weller. a 25 watt one is cheap and good enough for small quick jobs. i use a 60 watt most of the time, but since down graded to a 25 watt which i find to be perfect.

wow how many fans???? ROFL, just a suggestion i wound recommend changing some of them fans for shrouds, install the Fan in an AIR BLOWING direction, not air sucking direction. shrouds do not work with fan installed in sucking mode.

shrouds keeps the air inside and improves the airflow through a radiator.
The air turbulence is increased within this tunnel volume and avoids the dead spot below the middle of the impeller.

just my thoughts :D

the outsides are just for vents.

the middle is a double sanace core with 25mm on the front and rear gutted as shourds.

total fans used in this project is 24.

8 sanace core
8 yates ends
8 yates as shrouds.

Yup!

2 san ace each on 1 chanel.
Then the 4 yates on the ends on one channel.

Total channels on controller is 6. Using all of them.

Remember oracle will have its own independant PSU.

Damn $200 bones in fans alone LOL 2 480's that's one expensive core well it is extreme systems right. All I wanna know is where in the world are you going to mount that thing? It's awesome BTW Also are you going to need a 1000w supply or some dylithium crytals? to source power to it?

um... no one has seemed to mention that your rad sandwich is pointless. You will just be puming warm air from one rad into the other, thus defeating the purpose of the second radiator.

MomijiTMO

Not if the rad with the hot air has the warmer water.

I would just rather have 2 rads, each with their own fans.

actualy max martin recorded this value to be very small. With that much static i highly doubt i'll have a delta higher then 1C

I know the delta will be low, but even with one rad and all of those fans your temps would be so low that even a totaly seperate rad with its own fresh air supply would not help that much. What you are doing is virtually pointless as it will not help your temps much at all. I think its called the law of diminshing returns and Newtons law of heating that will show you why your endeavor is pointless from a performance standpoint.

But I could be wrong if you plan to run tri SLI in a dual socket C2Q system at 4.5Ghz.

If the fans aren't counter rotating, is there any point to that? Furthermore with the 25mm 'extractors' and 'inlets'.

:wasntme:

Possibly with the addition of a second HD4870X2 + a SAS controller.

Near peak wattage estimate around 800W.

Comes down to splitting the loops on 2 rads using monster rads to keep noise level down.

Max i did all the homework needed. :D

This isnt just a stupid excessive build im doing.

Its me we're talking about.
Wait... bad example...
OK! i get the reason why you thought it was a stupid excessive build.

If the fans aren't counter rotating, is there any point to that? Furthermore with the 25mm 'extractors' and 'inlets'.

martin showed that it helped a little. If anything i can downvolt my fans to 7V instead of 9V and achieve superior static @ cost of little sound.
Also i needed the spacing in between, and now i have a TON of san aces, and said hellz why not.

lol. with all that CPU you need a good videocard. I would suggest the newer dual core Adaptec SAS controller. They have the highest throughput of any SAS controller. Couple that with the 15k SAS Seagate drives in RAID 0 and have yourself a party. The 300GB 15k drives I have seen for as little as 150 dollars. A hell of a lot better deal than the raptors.

SNiiPE_DoGG
11-17-2008, 11:19 AM
maxxx: if the warmest water is put into the first radiator which is receiving the exhaust air then there should be equal delta for both rads thus achieving the desired effect. of course it would be less efficient than two rads receiving fresh air, however it is more space efficient and is more effective than the alternative of the single rad.
