Hello,

I have a Foxconn BlackOps Board here with the G32 BIOS. Now i get a very, very weird problem and im hoping someone can shed some light on the matter. The problem lies with using 4GB (2x2GB) sticks of my Corsair TW3X4G1800C8DF Memory and 3DMark 2006. My GFX Card is the XFX GTX280 with the 180.43 Forceware Drivers.

Now i have this system Overclocked and stable at 3.80GHz (Q9650) and im getting low scores with two of the 2GB sticks in either the blue or white slots. The score usually comes out at around 15900-16000 with two sticks BUT when i take one of the memory sticks out i get 19100-19200.

I have tried each stick individually and it does exactly the same with the sticks. I have even reverted my overclock back to stock settings (3GHz) and the problem still occurs. At stock i get 12500 with two of the sticks but with one of the sticks i get about 15500. Again i have tried BOTH the white and blue slots. I have even tried a new GTX280 and it still happens.

So why does the BlackOps do this? Does anyone have any ideas?

Regards,

Paul.

Just tried a few more things but im not able to resolve the issue. I have tried a new pack of Corsair 1800MHz Memory and i have also tried a completely different GFX Card. I tried a Gainward 4850 ATi Card and it does exactly the same.

Anyone able to replicate this? I would get a new BlackOps Board but they are out of stock so im kind of stuck at the moment.

Regards,

Paul.

Most of the settings are on Auto apart from the important ones. All i have setup in there is 8-8-8-24-2T with the voltage at 1.801v. Also i have ran Memtest86+ v2.01 using a bootable Linux Pendrive and it passed over 20hrs +. I would try 2x1GB DIMMS but i have none to hand in DDR3

can you find the specific test that is being affected?

Do you have around 30-40% cpu load even when idling? If so, just disable the nic that is not in use from the device manager...

can you find the specific test that is being affected?

Here are the results at stock settings (3GHz):

1x2GB stick intalled in the White or Blue slots:

3DMark Score: 15995

SM 2.0 Score: 6271
GT1 - Return to Proxycon: 52.833 FPS
GT2 - Firefly Forest: 51.689 FPS

HDR/SM3.0 Score: 7606
HDR1 - Canyon Flight: 83.213 FPS
HDR2 - Deep Freeze: 68.897 FPS

CPU Score: 4439
CPU1 - Red Valley: 1.462 FPS
CPU2 - Red Valley: 2.156 FPS

2x2GB sticks installed in the White or Blue slots:

3DMark Score: 13062

SM 2.0 Score: 4957
GT1 - Return to Proxycon: 41.616 FPS
GT2 - Firefly Forest: 41.008 FPS

HDR/SM3.0 Score: 6452
HDR1 - Canyon Flight: 76.919 FPS
HDR2 - Deep Freeze: 52.125 FPS

CPU Score: 3538
CPU1 - Red Valley: 1.182 FPS
CPU2 - Red Valley: 1.693 FPS

As you can see there is quite a difference in the scores. I still have no idea what is going on, this is the weirdest thing i have seen for a while. Here are my system specs if anyone needs them to offer some help on the matter:

Foxconn BlackOps Motherboard (BIOS G32),
Intel Q9650 3GHz Processor,
4GB (2x2GB) Corsair Dominator DDR3 1800MHz Memory (8-8-8-24-2T @ 1333MHz stock settings)
1GB XFX Geforce GTX280 Graphics (180.43 Forceware),
Creative X-FI Titanium Soundcard PCI-E
750GB Samsung F1 Hard Drive,
120GB OCZ Core Series Solid State Drive,
620w Corsair Power Supply Unit,
Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit SP1 Retail.

Also before anyone says that my PSU is too low a wattage, i have tried a 1000w Corsair PSU and the problem still occurs. Also my Voltages are standard like NB @ 1.250v and Memory @ 1.801v. Temperatures seem to be normal so i don't think anything is throttling. CPU @ 33c, SYS @ 44c, NB @ 46c.

Do you have around 30-40% cpu load even when idling? If so, just disable the nic that is not in use from the device manager...

CPU load at idle is normal, usually around 1-2% so i don't think that is causing this issue. Also regarding the NIC i have updated the driver for it to the latest version on the Broadcom site v10.100.0.0.

Any ideas?

Paul.

Do u have any S-Pi, 2K1(details) and AQUA scores both 2*2 and 1*2?

huh, i expected it to be affecting just one or two tests which could help us diagnose.
but it's affecting all of them. that's weird.
i second the spi. AM3 won't be as useful, but run SPi 1M and 32M on both configs. that should tell us something.
we need House.

Hello again,

Right i have been playing around a bit with the board and i think i have a fix to this. I have been messing with the BIOS'es from G26 to G30 most of them refused to post or even display until i tried G30. G30 seems to have worked for me and my Overclock is still going stong on Prime95 right now.

When i flashed to G30 i tried 3DMark2006 and i can immediately tell from the first test that it has worked. When it starts inside the docking ship the FPS is at a healthy 95-98 FPS which is good, when it dosen't work it gets about 74-76 FPS (i.e on G32).

I think someone should try and emulate this if at all possible, this seems to be a bug with the G32 BIOS. As i work at a computer firm i can easilly get a Blackops out of stock, flash it to G32 and get 2x2GB sticks of memory to emulate it. However, we are currently out of Blackops boards so i can't try it until they come back in.

I have also been relaying this information onto Foxconn as i get it so i will make sure i let them know of the current progress of this issue. Thanks for all the comments guys and helping out it's greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Paul.
