Righty-ho.

I just bought a Vantec Tornado 80mm, and whilst I had been told about the volume, I don't think it's possible to prepare yourself for one of these things, the cat hasn't been in my room since Friday.

Anyway, what I need to ask is, is it possible to mod these fans to connect using a standard motherboard 3pin header?

I know it can be done with Delta's, so can it be done with a Tornado?

Yeah, but I wouldn't do it...draws too much power from the board...I run 2 of them in my prommie top case, with 4 pin plugs.

Yeah, I just checked the Delta guide, it was only for hooking up an RPM monitoring cable, the Tornado has one anyway, it's checklist time.

Foot? Check.
Mouth? Check.

And please accept my condolences for your ears. :D

i got 2 in my case, just be sure to get a fanspeed controller. No probems with temps or noise here.

Yeah....mine are controlled by the knob on the TrueControl PSU. I have one of these 7 volt converters (see pic) I don't remember where I got it, does anyone know where I can buy some more? I know I can make them, but would rather buy some already made, nice and neat like the one in the pic. ;)
Thanks

I have a Sunbeam rheobus, soon to be replaced by a Vantec Nexus, the ickle 3.5 inch one, awww, so wee...

TheDude, those fan speed convertors should be all over the place in the USA, pretty much every overclocking or modding shop over here stocks them, but I don't know about your neck of the woods I'm afraid.

Yeah...you would think so but damned if I can find them.

Found one (http://www.directron.com/reduction.html), not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for, 12v > 10v.

Awesome! They have 12 to 10 and there's a link to 12 to7s also...with your choice of pin connections. Great find ....thanks a lot! :D :D :D

No worries, a quick google usually staves off the boredom at work. :D

I have to ask ... what words did you google to find it? ;)

IIRC it was "fan speed cable", but I ignored the link I posted here and dug about 7 pages in before realising that it may have been useful. :D

has anyone tried the 12v>10v with a 92mm tornado?
does it reduce the noise under a 80mm tornado..
as i cant stand neither of them stock..
