hi,
i keep on having these ads pop up on my desktop when i am connected to the net but not on any sites. the window is called "messenger service" (i think :rolleyes: ) well i would not be that bothered if it only happened what i am on site but when i am playing online games it will appear and i have to leave the game to close the window then rejoin the game :mad:
is there some way of getting rid of this damn advert?
i have norton internet security and that is doing nothing?

I take it you have XP?

If so go to
"control panel"
"Administrative Tools"
" Services"
then go down the list till you see "messenger" right click on it select "stop" then right click again go to "properties" then use the drop down to select "disable" and guess what, no more pop up messenger windows!!

You can also disable your start up programs here as well, I have read it is best to do it that way rather than using the "RUN" "MSCONFIG" command.
