I bought a canon rebel xti spring of 07 when CUSA was going out of business for $400. At the time I had no photo experience but it was a steal and I wanted to get started. Anyhoo I've survived on the stock 18-55 lens but recently with the MS 30% cashback I bit on the Canon 28-135 IS USM lens. And damn it totally dwarfs my 18-55EF-S, both in physical size and weight but boy is it really nice.

You gotta try primes one day. They're orgasmic.

Agreed, I have 50 and 24mm primes, I love them. But the 28-135mm is pretty damn good, with the IS and all.

Primes ftw, I have a 50mm f/1.4 among others and man it's nice and it was like $20 used.

That's the lens I have with my 40D. I have had some great pictures with that.

Next time my uncle comes I am going to play with his lenses. He has a Eos 5D with a 70-200mm IS L series one, a wide angle 17-40mm IS L series, and a 24-105mm L series. All of those lenses are a bit above my budget at the moment but I would like to see what the difference is. The Eos 5D is a nice camera though from the last time I used it.
