e: I didn't read about it having aluminium and copper in the same block. That's a bit daft, considering the workmanship that's otherwise gone into it...

Amazing work, if you build something like that with such easy you probably have similar projects every once in a while, when you feel like getting a new set of hardware.

Id rather have yate sponsoring me then crappyX. Incase you dont know what crappyX is, its SilentX.

The overbloated lying SOB's fan company we all learned to hate and bash without a second thought. Sorry SilentX needs bashing.

I just love the way it all comes together. It's like a test bench setup, but so stylish it looks like a full case. I love the way it looks. The base with radiators reminds you of a v-stroke engine, and the red fins cover the mobo and give the illusion that it's enclosed in a case. A+!!

I totally wouldn't want to use those gigantic waterblocks, but I love the way everything else looks and is put together.

QFT +1

I also have to give him a 10/10 engineering. What you guys don't understand is, his GPU blocks are more or less modular. All he needs to do is make new bases for whatever cards he gets and he's done. Even the MoBo block can be re-done in the same manner from the looks of it. Only problem I can see, is if the spacing on the GPU's change at all.

I'm gonna stray from the "pack" a bit and say that while they are over priced, SilenX fans do make "acceptable" case fans if you have them already. I used to recommend them when I was over at DD's forums but stopped before I left there. Yes their actions on SPCR were deplorable but that has nothing to do with the products themselves. I would recommend that useless you've actually used any of their products you keep the bashing limited to the thoughts in your head.

So today I received my 6 Yate Look 72cfm fans, which I purchased after reading many threads of fan choice (and watching Pete's fan vid haha). I plugged them in I was amazed at how a 32dba fan can be as quiet as the 14dba Silenx Xtrema Pro fan and blow as much if not more air. I already had the Silenx Xtrema Pro fans from before you jump all over me....heh.

What a complete waste of money.....doh.

At 30 bucks a pop those Silenx fans are a joke!!! I think I paid about as much for all 6 Yates as I did for a single Silenx Xtrema Pro 120mm. Crap.....crap....crap.....bah.

I also purchased 2 of the Yate Loon 72cfm 32dba UV blues and they are actually quieter than the 14dba (eerrrrm....bull:banana::banana::banana::banana:). ...Silenx UVs. WTF??? lol

Bah......grrrr......:slapass: <-----slapping the ass of Silenx

The part i bolded is exactly how i felt after i grab'd yates and compared them.

I like his design on the CPU block. The "bullet" in the middle works well on turbos as a air accelerator and i'd think it would do something similar in water. Not sure how the raised fins would work though. Definitey WC pr0n though. He needs to hook up with Martin.

Looks awsome, what pains me more than the alu/copper mix is how hard it must have been to mount that thing. Everything would have to be perfectly set into the PCI-E slots and then you would have to screw it in. I wonder how he attached it to the second Sli card? However it is very blingy, I would sure use that if I could make one. Something makes me think that there could have been a better all-in-one design block though. Still gets 10/10 all the way though. Especially 10/10 for creativity.

NaeKuh, I too was a bit upset about spending so much on the SilenX when I finally got my first YL SM's, but in all honesty, I never really believed the CFM/dbA numbers on the SilenX in the first place so I wasn't too disappointed by their performance. I did buy more than a few of them though, and try to use them when ever possible just to get rid of them and they really aren't as awful when they are just moving case air with simple wire grills. Once I've used them all and they finally all die, I can put that chapter of bad purchases to rest with most of the other "bad purchase" chapters I've had, the one exception being my BI GTS, that thing just refuses to die. :shakes:

Very nice block, it serves its purpose well.

Seeing as its not a production block for the masses I could care less if it is alu or cardboard. What matters is that the creater achieved his vision within the budget and design limitations he/she may or may not have imposed on themself. The block is art, not XS.

I really wish that all the ALU haters would just pipe down. I mean, you CANT buy the block, its not in your rig so who gives a :banana::banana::banana:?

Really! how p i s s e d would you be!

anyway, so you all know, I remember reading somewhere that the total cost for the completed system was 40K. can't remember if it was euros or what not. the costs broke down like this...

components, MB, CPU, GPU's etc... 4500
raw copper & alumimium blocks... 500
labour 700hrs @ average rate 50hr... 35000

40K!

But he did all the labor himself so total cost =5K + time.

bentleya
11-23-2008, 07:04 AM
OUCH!!! you are joking right?

Well the only way it wound fall off is if the table capllosed, due to how heavy it is, you wound have to go some to push it off or lean on it ?

If he had a good anodizing job done on the inside of those aluminum tops, he would be OK if he uses a healthy dose of antifreeze or the like. Apart from the alu issue, I fail to see how the cooling is going to be inadequate at all.

This has got to be the most incredible build I have ever seen. Truly unbelievable.

Nice engineering indeed! Although I think the case is a bit wierd.
The back is fully "open", no motherboard "plate" or such. He avoided to take pictures on the back so I guess there is a reason for it. Also the case looks like it is frontside back. It is tilted down "backwards" which make it look a bit stupid :D
