Welcome to the worklog of my Lian Li PC-343b mod. My intent is to do something similar to the rainmaker that virtualrain did (horizontal mobo, lots of LC, high quality finish). My overall goal with this project is to make it into MDPC so we'll see how well I can do this!

Finally I finished with my dremel, jigsaw, and after all of my dremel bits and the jigsaw blad broke, the pliers and the hacksaw! The holes in the bottom are for a PA120.2. Don't get too attached to the current paintjob as its going super glossy black on sunday after my soccer tournament!

The cutout plan:

http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr10/FrostyPanda/PA080002.jpg

The finished cuts (sorry for the blurriness). Yes I know they suck, but the bottom holes won't be visible so it doesn't really matter:

I'll post pictures of the painting and cleaned up edges on my cuts on Sunday. In the meantime I'm off to Wenatchee for the wonderful Apple Cup soccer tourney. Wish me luck

Looks like a great project shaping up. The Lian Li 343 is a great case to start this with.

I used to play soccer in Wenatchee, but that was many years ago. I absolutely love that area.

What are your plans with this case?

I used to play soccer in Wenatchee, but that was many years ago. I absolutely love that area.

What are your plans with this case?

We travel there every year. We won the first game today 6-0 :D.

As far as the case goes, I'm looking to do something similar to the rainmaker that virtualrain did, but after the basic layout for the motherboard that's it. After that I plan to put either 2 120.3's or two Black Ice GTX 360s in the front. The holes in the bottom are for a 120.2. I'll be putting the delta fans on it hopefully upwards of 150cfm each :D The three loops, one for the proc, one for crossfired 4870x2's, and the other for the chipset and whatever else I feel like, will each be powered by a ddc 3.2 with xspc res tops. I'll be cooling my e4300 and my rampage formula to the max so I'm gonna need as much cooling as I can :yepp: All tubing will be .5" ID and .75" OD. Since all of the bays will be used up with the front rads, I'll be putting two slot in dvd writers in the very bottom right below the rads. All the tubing will be sleeved in techflex carbon fiber sleeving, the nice type not the stuff intended for pc use. For painting the mobo tray, i'll be emulating a carbon-kevlar weave with a black base and gold "weave" and a super glossy clear coat. I'm trying to use as much stuff thats all copper, no acetal or delrin, to keep with a slick modern look. Case lighting will probably just be white LED's to enhance the copper and the rest of the paint job (i'm not really a fan of the pimped out "bling" cases with rainbow LED's and three different colors of w/c fluid). I'll just be using distilled water and MAYBE i'll use the blue LED that comes with the res tops. Sorry for the long post, but I've got big ambitions for this case and in the end I hope to make it to MDPC . I hope you enjoy!

Sorry. Everythings not going so well because it got really really cold and the paint isn't drying properly so i'll post better pictures when I can find a reliable time to paint. Here's what I do have though. The motherboard tray is only primed so far. The case has three coats of primer and one coat of Krylon Glossy Black spray paint. The temperature drop caused the paint to shrink and as a result it has this cracked crinkly look

Update tomorrow. My school has a half day every wednesday so i should be able to paint while its somewhat warm

FrostyPanda
10-16-2008, 06:37 PM
Well i repainted it and the cracks still came up. I think I'm just going to keep adding coats of primer until the cracks fill because I don't have any other way to paint it (I don't own a powder coating gun and its too pricy to have someone else do it). In the meantime I'm in a rut because I'm waiting for an order of aluminum angled pieces to use as braces and the 2mm thick sheet coming with it to be laser cut for the back panel. I'm also at the point where I will be buying radiators. I have to buy a PA120.2 because I have already cut holes for it in the bottom, but I would still like some advice as to the other two that will go in the front. They must be 3 fan radiators and I will be putting super powerful (100+ cfm) fans on them. So...

Which should I get? I am looking for performance and price so the cheapest that performs comparably would be ideal. Thanks!

nice to see another horizontal lian li build. I got the whole inner case powerdercoated of my 343b for £18 and the hard drive cage was an additional £7 (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=190700). Saved me alot of hassle, i gather you on a limited budget, but it is well worth it!

Nice plan you've got there, I see you've got problems with the paint. Did you cleaned everything well before spraying the paint and how did you cleaned it, did you cleaned it with a grease removing fluid?

Hoping to see some more updates soon :) because i'm thinking of buying a 343B to. Maybe next year or a little bit sooner :P First I have to finish my V1200B project.

The 343 is a very very nice case to work on, so I suggest you get one as soon as you can :D The overall finish is so much higher in quality than the MM cases, IMO. As far as the paint goes, I scrubbed the crap out of it with 1200 sandpaper, so the surface would still be relatively smooth. No grease removal but the previous paint I used worked just fine, so I'm assuming its just this brand of paint. Rustoleum doesn't seem to work on the larger pieces (the mobo tray covered fine) so its back to krylon for the frame  I looked at powder coating and its a bit pricey for me (spray paint costs a lot less).

RRR will never forgive you lol. I see you'll be doing a lot of sanding wax on wax off :) looking forward to this build. Alternative rad instead of the PA120.3 for the front would be swiftech MCR320QPK

Oh, man that doesn't look good. It has nothing to do with temperatures, really. It is just that you didn't do it right. I like painting during cold weather because I always get good results. :D

You need to sand back down to the metal and use a self-etching primer. Then cover that with a sandable primer and wetsand the primer smooth with @ 800 grit. Don't keep painting over the cracks. Remember to paint with broad sweeping strokes. Allow each coat to dry for several days and wetsand inbetween coats. Patience will pay major dividends in the quality of your finished product....

What he said. That's exactly how I paint my stuff.

FrostyPanda
10-17-2008, 03:12 PM
FrostyPanda...

I'd like to add this also. I ALWAYS clean the surface, prior to applying the self-etching primer, with DENATURED ALCOHOL... It is readily available at any hardware store in the paint section, where paint thinners are located.

Thanks for the advice. The irritating thing though is that when I previously painted it the paint stuck just fine so now i'm kinda confused as to what is going on

Well UPS says that my order of aluminum is our for delivery so I'll hopefully post some pictures of the stuff when it comes. In the meantime, I have spent the last 3 hours making a SketchUp model of the final product. I cannot add the tubing in but what is there is pretty cool :D The outlet nozzles on the pumps will be koolance 90 degre angled compression fittings 1/2" ID 3/4" OD so that I don't bump into the bottom rad. All of the fans attached to rads are intake and will be Delta EFB1212VH's (102cfm each) and the exhaust will be the San Ace 9SG1212G101's (260cfm each). Perhaps i should attach wings to it...:D Enjoy!

Download the SketchUp file here (http://frostypanda.deviantart.com/art/Lian-Li-PC343b-Watercooled-101028678)

Update: Here are pictures of the sketchup for those of you who don't have sketchup installed :nono:/are too lazy to download the file.

I have removed some of the walls but I will have a custom laser cut back panel made to fit my config, and LiLi PC 343b window kits on the two sides and the top.

Onlinemetals.com does any size order of just about every type of metal and plastic out there (even composite products) and are located in Seattle! I paid for ground shipping and it came the next day :) Anyways, here are some photos of the aluminum...

Its actually really cheap compared to what I thought it would be. With the cut fees and all the 17.875" x 18" x.125" cost me ~$22 from onlinemetals.com. The angled aluminum for 2ft was ~$2.50 :D. Are you thinking of getting some?

Throw those puppies on some fan contollers.

 That defeats the purpose of buying the fans. Just kidding. I'm looking for a fan controller that will handle the massive wattage these things require, but I don't want a big ugly rheostat. If i can find one, I'd like to have a little touch pad like thing that I can use to turn them up and down. I havent found anything yet, though, so I may have to find a clever way to blend in some rheostats w/o the uglyness. If you have any ideas, they are certainly welcome!!!

Sparky
10-19-2008, 05:43 PM
Each of those EFB1212VH uses a tad under 5 watts, so you could get something like a sunbeam rheobus and put a rad's worth of fans per channel, and use the 4th channel for the remaining 3 case fans.

Ya I looked at those. The problem is that I don't have any open drive bays (see my CAD pictures) so I cannot do that. I think I'm just going to get a couple rheostats and find a clever place to put them on the back. I'm really trying to go for a super clean look with this case so I'm doing everything I can to eliminate ugly dials and such. The other problem w/ fan controllers is that each of the 3 AFB1212GHE's on the back uses up about 30w and I havent found a 100w fan controller

You can remove the rheobus's board from the panel and then mount it anywhere you wish. The faceplate didn't fit my case right for some reason so I took the faceplate off, drilled holes in one of my bay covers, and used that to mount it instead. That way you could also do away with the LEDs easy enough if you wanted without it looking like something is missing.

I can get pics later if you wish.

You could separate the knobs by taking them off the circuit board and using wires to extend them to wherever you wished. Just as long as you keep the right wire going to the right leg on the right knob ;)

Hey Frosty-

Are your Sketchups to scale? I was looking at the thread again and noticed this pic in particular:

http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr10/FrostyPanda/Top.jpg

The motherboard and 4870x2's dont look to scale with the case.

Look at these pics from my worklog, since we're both doing horizontal 343s and you can see what I mean:

http://www.fury-pc.com/blackflag/mockup.jpg

http://www.fury-pc.com/blackflag/tight.jpg

The x2 and the 280 are the exact size and my 280 almost touches the drive bay cage.

I've fell victim to the 343 scaling thing myself- it seems like this case is so large, but it really isnt as big as it seems once you get stuff inside it.

Just dont want to see you have to rework a lot of things to get them to fit. ;)

Ya i noticed that too. sketchup isnt perfect and i had trouble getting the mobo to be parallel to the back wall. if you look you can tell that there's a significant amount cut off by the wall on the left side. Everything elso is to scale though. I'm not really worried about the mobo tho cuz i know everything will fit. I'm not going to use this for my measurements, more just a quick check to see if i actually could

Help needed: Do you think I should paint the mobo tray white also? I think it might tie in with the back plate nicely as well as the rads, which the outer frame will be white, similar to ashraf's build.

If your having bother painting it with the cold, heat the case up with a hot air gun before spraying, found it helped when I was spraying a car a while back. Might be worth a try.

Thanks for the vote. I instead decided to go with a black tray because the tray isn't absolutely perfect, and the white would have shown those imperfections too much.

Thanks for the idea. Instead, i used the box that the case came in and cut a "vent" in the top and point a portable heater in to make an over. it seems to work pretty well :D

UPDATE:
Pictures of my proposed paint job for the sides. These are just JPEGs but I am going to try to find a place to print the designs, or I will airbrush them myself. The black part in the middle is the window :D. I used an assortment of brushes I found on qbrushes.com and brusheezy.com

I like the first one best as the colours have the smallest footprint (right word?) compared to the white area, but they're really all very nice:up:

edit: ya, first one for sure (4me). It leaves more room for the white and, kinda oddly, it brings more attention to the colours that way.

Right now I've got it running at 3069 at 1.4v with stock cooling and with my previous LCS (junky Gigabyte 3D Galaxy II) I got it to 3600 at 1.5v on a 680i mobo. With that said, I'm hoping I'll be able to get at least 3700 with the new LCS on my rampage formula. If need be though, my grandma's computer has a q6600 that has been acting up lately and she said I could part it out when she buys a new one :D

Mini update. Ive decided to go with Koolance 1/2" ID 5/8" OD instead of Bitspower 1/2" ID 3/4" OD because after a bit of research, I found that the carbon fiber sleeving I wanted to use wouldn't fit on the tubing if I used Bitspower :(. Would've liked to, but this way I'll also save a little money and my sleeving will work. Update to come on either tuesday or wednesday, so stay tuned!!!

wait a sec... are you talking about fitting sizes? because 5/8OD is smaller than 3/4... And if you are worried about your sleeving not fitting in the fitting, then wouldn't you want to use the one with the larger OD???

I know it sounds stupid but I have yet to see any other comp. fitting work with sleeving on the tubin. Blue Aqua recently updated his log and showed that he was having trouble getting his sleeving to work with his Bitspowers. Virtualrain is the only one that I've seen that has been able to use sleeving (its also the same brand as what I'll be using) and he had to use Koolance 1/2" ID 5/8" OD tubing and comp fittings. I believe I'll have to use 1/16" thin walled tubing for it to work, though.

Like the sig too :ROTF:

Oops sorry :sofa:. For whatever reason I got you mixed up with Kibbler and his Ugly Duckling . Anyways, I think the reason that it doesn't work with the Bitspower fittings is because of the extra part at the bottom that the Koolance fittings don't have. I guess I'll have to get used to Koolance then. Anybody have any experience spray painting the tightening part of comp. fittings? I'm not sure I'm really going to like the darker color of the Koolance.

Powder coating black might be nice . Ive got a ton of black and white spray paint left over still. Maybe I'll spray paint them white. If you look at the parts list for this build you'll notice in the watercooling portion of it i mentioned that I'll be using Techflex Carbon Fiber Braided sleeving (this stuff (http://www.techflex.com/prod_CFN.asp), not their junky case mod stuff) so I'll probably just be buying some clear tubing. The white fittings might go well with the rest of the build though. Thanks for the idea!

you would most likely ruin the fittings powdercoating them, you would have to sand-blast the nickel plating to get the powdercoat to stick to the fitting and even then it woul most likely destroy the threads on the fitting. :2cents:

NICE Looking paint there. Man i cannot wait to see this build mature!

Thanks! After 11 total coats, I hoped it would turn out nicely. I've never done any of this before so I'm really happy with how excellent everything is turning out :D. One tip for those of you who who are looking to do this sort of thing is that I have found that intense heat gives a much nicer finish when using anything with a little gloss to it (this includes satin, semi-gloss, glossy). I just use the box that my 343b came in and cut a vent hole in the top. It cooks the buggers at about 95 degrees Fahrenheit and not only dries it quicker, but gives it a nice sheen. I wish I had pictures to show the difference between two things painted with the same paint when heated and when not :(.

Here's basically the plan for the next few months:

The next part of my build will be: First, to buy and paint a PA120.2 the same way as the Feser 360's; and second, to figure out how I want to mount the HDD cage. Then I get to take on the fun task of PSU sleeving. I intend to use MDPC-X sleeving from murdermod.com to give it a really clean look, even though very little of the wiring will be visible. I'm hoping that I'll be able to finish this by the end of January, right about Semester Finals time....ugh.

I've kind of hit a financial wall at the moment so all the updates you'll probably be seeing for the next couple of months will be patchy DIY stuff while I earn some money to buy that Ultra X3 1600w that I want to get. If anybody has any spare watercooling parts (esp. comp fittings...Koolance 1/2" ID 5/8" OD) that they could donate to me I would be more than grateful. I don't really like it when people just give me stuff, so if you have watercooling parts you'd like to "donate", I would like to find some way I can pay you back/work it off (obviously not in money, as that seems to be a reurring problem for me:ROTF:).

To build relations in the XS community, and to try and make some side money from my regular job, I have a signature and avatar customization service that I started up, so if anybody needs/wants avatars and/or signatures, just speak up. One condition is that I DO ask people to visit my donation site after they receive their avatar or signature to help me pay for parts. Here is the site: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=1056057. If I find that too many people are just taking me for granted, that little donate button will be forced to turn into a "Buy Now" button and I'll be forced to take payment before I create your sigs and avatars. I know I sound like a jerk, but nobody likes to get taken advantage of. I think that the donate button was a more friendly way of obtaining funds, so lets all help eachother out here please...

I'll periodically update with new updates and ideas I have for this build. In the next few days or so I intend to have an update or two regarding sponsorships from ATI graphics cards manufacturers. Wish me luck with these guys....I REALLY need the sponsorships if you couldn't tell from my "financial wall" groaning above.

Thanks for all of your support and great feedback so far!

Random question also... Do you guys like the updates list on the first post? It takes a bit of work to make it, but I thought that everyone might benefit from it. Just asking :)

A bit of an update...

I've decided to go with Feser Compression fittings 1/2" ID and 3/4" OD. I was reading up on the techflex website, and it says that for the Carbon Fiber sleeving I wanted to use, I would most likely want to use a resin to solidify it, which I have no intent of doing. Instead, Ive decided to go with Tygon R3603 tubing and I'll be using Feser One UV Blue coolant. I was inspired to make this change after revisiting charles' murderbox and the blue coolant he used. I also wanted to have some color in the interior of this blue, and the lighter blue color of this is a great addition. As a result, I will save myself about $75 on the carbon fiber sleeving, I'll be able to use Feser fittings, and be able to use 3/4" tubing :). Plus, after imagining what CF tubing would look like, I don't think I'd like the final outcome. Hmmm....since I have three loops, and the exterior will be airbrushed with pearl lime green and pearl true blue, maybe I'll use the feser green dye. The other way I could go is to just buy the Feser Tubing and then just use distilled water. What do you guys think? And if I choose to buy the tubing, which blue should I use? Carribean blue or just their basic blue?

I can't even imagine 16yr olds driving cars here in Finland especially during wintertime. I mean they're so wreckless even with their scooters and mopeds!:shakes:

But I'm guessing it's more ok in states 'cause most of the cars have automatic transmission, right?

And some ontopic: I'd prefer clear tubing with sime nice coloured coolant:up:

Yaa most of my friends are pretty reckless also. I took a really advanced driver training course which seemed to pay off. As far as the transmission, it has nothing to do with driver skill. Ive got friends who drive automatics that suck at driving and friends who drive sticks that are great.

I like the idea of using colored coolant vs. colored tubes.

BlueAqua

Clear tubes and colored coolant is the way to go. It really gives a lot more depth to the tubing.

N19h7m4r3
11-15-2008, 01:08 PM
Problem with coloured coolant is that the dye can start clogging waterblocks after a while.
Also the UV properties of the coolant dissapear aswell, while coloured tubing never does :)

PS. I hate cars, don't ask me why never liked them, never liked driving them. Give me a motorbike anyday :)

If need be I can always drain it and clean everything out. I'll be using the apogee gtz, and so far it doesn't seem like anyone has had problems with these blocks clogging. So far it seems like its just the EK Supreme has had problems...

Cars own bikes anyday.....

Also...
Do you all think that I really need the 1600w PSU, or could I get away with just using a 1200w Silverstone Strider. I'd love to be able to save myself the 100 bucks. I'll probably be switching out the deltas for something quieter and less watt intensive...

But for three loops, each with an mcp355, two 4870x2's, a q6600 oc'd, and two velociraptors...would 1200w be enough?

N19h7m4r3
11-15-2008, 01:56 PM
More than enough, I'd say you could always save more cash and get an Ultra X3 1000w, ultimate modular PSU and alot cheaper than a Silverstone :)

I'd give my left nut for a Velociraptor and two 4870x2's :O

Hell when you get all those, pm me your get rich scheme :)

 will do. I actually found the silverstone strider for 250 on newegg vs. the ultra which costs the same for 200 watts less. I actually calculated out everything on this site (http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculator.jsp) and i came out to 985 watts. I just want to play it safe and go with the 1200w. I really wish the silverstone came in glossy black though :(. Hmmm i think I'll be doing some painting . I also hate the plugs on the silverstone panel. Ultra definately has the market on this one...

N19h7m4r3
11-15-2008, 02:09 PM
I used http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine and it didn't come close to 990w.

Even with testing a heavy loaded system with 2 4870x2's don't go over 820 Max

On a more serious note, here you all go. Painted radiators! I used 2 coats of Krylon Primer and 9 coats of Krylon Satin Bright White spray paint on these. I sanded to 1200 grit in between coats. I really love the semi mirrored finish on them :D. Mucho sexeh...

Ugh I dunno. I hate the way the silverstone's look, and as technology gets better, the power will be more demanding, so I'm thinking I may just bite the bullet and get the Ultra X3 1600 anyways. This is the fourth power supply I'll have bought in two years, so I'm getting kind of tired of buying these things. In the long run, I think the 1600w is a good investment... I found it for $388 instead of $429 so I'll probably just get that.

Frosty.. excellent paint job.
Did you end up clear coating the paint or no?

Thanks :D. No I didn't end up clear coating because the last time I clear coated, it screwed up the finish. The other reason I didn't this time is because I used a satin finish instead of glossy, and the only clear coat I have is glossy, so it would be a waste of the satin finish. I also have 11 coats in total so i don't need the extra protection of the clear coat.

Those look great Frosty. Awesome work!

Thanks again :D:D:D

I'm planning on sleeving because I want the parts that will be showing to look clean. There's something about the basic wire that I don't like. i feel that since the connetor pieces are bulky, the wires should be proportionate to them...so that's why I'm going to sleeve. I also have some parts of my build where the cables will be visible, so I want those to look just as clean and make it seem as if they are intended to be there. i know it seems kinda pointless, but I'm shooting for the stars on this build . I also want to learn how to sleeve, so i'm going to sleeve these to figure it out :yepp:.

I'm selling my old computer, so hopefully I'll get a couple hundred bucks for that........damn, I just remembered that I'm gonna have to buy a new gfx card right afterwards because I told my friend I'd sell him the old graphics card with the system. Darn, i didn't think of this :(. Well I guess 4870x2 will be the next update. None of the graphics cards companies even gave me the courtesy of replying to my sponsorship request, so I don't think that's going to hapen . If anyone knows of a way to get them to sponsor me, I'm open to any ideas .

Try a smaller company first, like some little name trying to make it bigger, they're easier to sway than the big companies where nobody besides a peon probably read your email ;)

What company would you reccomend? I've only tried the big ones: Club3d, Palit, Powercolor, Gigabyte, ASUS, etc....

Try someone who focuses strictly on accessories, if I was going to go for a sponsorship, Id prolly go for Bitspower, XSPC, or somebody like that mostly cuz then you get tons of accessories and they are more accessible than larger companies

Oh I think we're talking about different things. I'm trying to get a graphics card company to sponsor me. I can pay for the little things, but its the graphics cards that are going to kill me in the end financially. I just sent an email off to AMD's worldwide community person, so hopefully they can help me out.

Well i finally put the ultra to good use in my test bench :D. I have to say this thing is HUGE, but the modular cables are really convenient, especially for a test bench user because I don't have random cables all over the place. It depends on what you call loud, but this thing isn't exactly quiet either. When I've got some decent load on my stuff, it starts to rock! Meanwhile, I'm installing TONS of 3D programs, including 3DS Max, Maxwell Render, RealFlow, V-Ray, Softimage XSI, Inventor 2009, and a bunch of others.

I don't want to be condescending or sound mean or anything, but, I would say its probably your age that is stopping you from getting sponsors. Kinda sucks but thats the way it is :\

not quite getting why my age would affect anything, but i guess its possible. I think the main reason is that I am asking for a couple of super high value things, and people probably don't even want to take a look. Just my thoughts....

What are you giving in return to the companies you are asking for sponsorship? They don't just give away parts, you have to earn the items...nothing is free.

It seems like most people who get sponsorships have several high quality builds completed already, and have demonstrated something unique that will bring attention to the sponsor's products. So, it may not be your age holding you back at this point. Keep on going and don't give up, but don't be disappointed if you don't get a high end video card sponsor this early in the game.

Yeah I'm not. I never actually expected them to sponsor me, but I was a bit disconcerted that none of them had the courtesy to reply. I'll find a way to pay for the build, but by the time I'm ready for that, the next nvidia boards, chipsets, cards, will be out so I'll just get whatever the latest and greatest things are then. I really really really hope the gtx295 and the 5870 stuff comes out, because that would be a great way to finish this build. I'd like to use nVidia in this build as I have used nVidia for most of my graphics in the past. I'd love to buy three of the nicest ones they have and do some crazy tri-sli with dual gpu chips for a total of 6 gpu's:D

Damn...no little clips of some chap saying Fu*k yeah.....

Yup its a POSIDE (Piece of Sh*t IDE) cable. Ive got two more IDE HDD's in the background on the bottom level of the test bench, but that IDE is connecting my opti drive. I rarely use it so I don't really care that much. When I finish my current build, though, everything will be SATA :D

(Sorry for the Blurriness on some of these...;))

First up....Could it be a GTX 260? Why yes it could....but not only that it is the somewhat new Core 216 SSC version (which I of course overclocked even more :yepp:)

Haha yes it was :D. Not really looking forward to the next part of the build. I've calculated approximately $800 for the next step (PA120.2, Comp fittings, pumps, res's, aftermarket tops, etc...)

Chiming in late here but I just had to give my hats off to you. It looks fantastic. Can't believe I missed this thread before now. I have actually been working on something similar for almost a year now but opposite. Black exterior and white interior. I had some major painting woes and finally handed it off to a buddy of mine who has plenty of auto painting experience and all the equipment to boot. Of course right in the middle of the project I had a wedding and a move but hoping to get back on track here soon. Can't wait to see how yours looks when you get er all done. keep up the good work it's obviously paying off!

Well its been over two years since I last posted in here. Since then not much has really happened until this past week when I finally got back to work on this job. After being tired of seeing nearly $400 of radiators sitting in my room, I decided to take action. The past couple of days I've been working on custom building some brackets to mount these to the 343b and they turned out quite nicely. To attach them, I just used some 4-40 screws and made some makeshift rubber gaskets for vibration reduction. Here's some eye-candy for ya. 6 high speed Yate Loons are on the way from Petras. Waterblock and pump will be ordered soon, I hope. Sorry about the quality; they're from the phone camera.

Indeed. Only issue is getting the thing into the shop. I'm at college so I don't really have access to all the tools I had at home, so it'll be a bit of an adventure.

It's a solid case. Big enough to do pretty much anything without being obnoxious like some of the mountain mods cases which this one goes against.

I'll throw pictures up later tonight, but I'm running my i7 at 4Ghz completely stable. Temps hit 61 degrees under Intel Burn Test. 19k 3dmark06 with the current GTX 260, which will be replaced by two 6950's (unlocked to 6970's and then OC'd) when they return from XFX rma.

Strange this thread has come back up. Ive recently just started sorting mine out with WC kit as ran out of space in my A71 case to add another rad Had previously just been using my 343b as a massive storage server, back when you needed lots of 500GB drives. Now i just have 6x2TB drives instead of the 16x500GBs

Look forward to seeing the updates.

Progress feels good. This is the first time I think I've actually bought the components I said I'd buy. Here we go!

24Gb memory is installed, all HDD's are installed, only 4 working, though :(. CPU overclocked a bit, but I'm aiming for 4.5GHz (though this may not be possible with 24Gb RAM. I'm waiting on one last shipment from PPC's which has the parts i need to finish water cooling the 6950's, unlocked to 6970's and to be OC'd.
