Hi there,

I recently upgraded my GPU from a MSI 8800GTS OC G92 to a HD4870 OC which I'm also planning to WC. Since if have to change the loop I'm planning on adding a simple drain.

My System (http://www.hardware.info/nl-NL/usersys/cmtxZJ1hk2md/view/) (on a Dutch HW site)

I want to place this drain directly after my pump/res combo in the lower chamber. I'm going to split the water with the DangerDen Delrin TEE T-piece G1/4" fitting (http://www.aquatuning.de/product_info.php/info/p2879_DangerDen-Delrin-TEE--T-piece-G1-4--fitting-option.html). I want to fit my normal EK 10mm (3/8") fitting G1/4 with O-Ring (High-Flow) (http://www.aquatuning.de/product_info.php/info/p2168_10mm--3-8---fitting-G1-4-with-O-Ring--High-Flow-.html) on this. The plan is to have:
pump/res -> tube -> DD Tsplit -> EK fitting -> Tube -> Drain / QD.
It would be usefull if I could plug another tube on the end so that I can lead it more out of the case.

I'm planning on buying the rest of the stuff I need on Aquatuning.de (http://www.aquatuning.de/) so it would help when it would be avl on the shop.
QD's @ AquaTuning.de (http://www.aquatuning.de/index.php/cPath/50_168)
Ball Velve's @ AquaTuning.de (http://www.aquatuning.de/index.php/cPath/50_527)

Would this simple little (ugly) thing (http://www.aquatuning.de/product_info.php/info/p3614_2-way-ball-valve-10mm--3-8---High-flow-PE.html) do the trick? And is it much 'flow restrictive' ?

I would prefer something like this (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=3334469&postcount=7). But i've read here on XS that you better not use those things in the CPU loop. I just have 1 loop with everything in it so is it recommendable to use it? If yes what male / female parts would i need? Koolance QD @ AT (http://www.aquatuning.de/index.php/cPath/50_168/filter_by_manu/61)

Thanks in advance!

Cya

Just make sure the water isn't flowing through the drain valve when you aren't draining (sounds obvious) and you won't have to worry about the restriction of a drain valve. Naekuh has a really good idea there. You could also use that as a TEMPORARY T-LINE! I just realized how awesome that is. I'm doing it next rebuild.

I ordered my stuff yesterday. Ordered everything except for those Koolance QD's since I don't know which I have to get. Maybe I will buy them when I know which are good for me.

If the drain valve is placed properly (like naekuh's), restriction will never be an issue. Therfore, there's no need to get the "high flow" fittings but here's an example of what you would need:

Koolance QDC (High Flow) Shutoff Nozzle, Male Threaded G 1/4
Koolance QDC (High Flow) Shutoff Nozzle, Female Panel Barb G 1/4

The QD's only fit a certain wall thickness on tubes. Bought one to try it out and it will not fit any of my tubes (Tygon and Primochill 1/2" ID 3/4" OD) at home because they are too thick. So now I have a Koolance paperweight. :ROTF:

Only if you get the compressions ones, they have standard barb QD's as well. those are the ones that you should have purchased. See if the company will swap em.
