I'm at 425x8 with my Q9450, 8hrs prime stable but only using the 3.2 divider. My ram is rated 1600MHz @ 7-7-7-18 but prime95 freezes if I try to run it at 1700MHz even with loose timings.

My settings are:

vcore: 1.375
vdroop: enabled
PLL: 1.58
VTT: 1.35
CPU GTL: 10,5,10,10
NB: 1.46 (1.5 real)
NB GTL: +2
SB: 1.5
vdimm: 2v

Timings for 7-7-7-18 @ 1360MHz (below stock):

tCL: 7
tRCD: 7
tRP: 7
tRAS: 18
tRFC: 74
P.L.: 7
tWR: 22
tWTR: 19
tRRD: 6
tRTP: 5
C.R.: 2T

I have tried loosening the timings to:

tCL: 8
tRCD: 8
tRP: 8
tRAS: 22
tRFC: 80
P.L.: 8
tWR: 22
tWTR: 22
tRRD: 7
tRTP: 7
C.R.: 2T

But prime95 locks up immediately as soon as it's run even with these loose timings. I'm wondering if the nb voltage/gtl will need tweaking to run the ram at higher speed.. anyone got any ideas? I can't really push NB voltage up any higher until my water kit arrives as it's already running well over 55C at max load..

Hi negev

Are you stable already at 400fsb with stock memory then?

For 425fsb try nb GTL +3, with me +2 lasted until 421 then i needed +3.

Strange how its solid at 425 if I use the 3.2 divider and +2 though.. ill give it a try thanks :)

Seems happier now, the timings are really loose though.

Just out of interest, how high have you got your fsb and what were the settings?

Acronis is what you need before trying to tweak your mem :D

Cant you just fix MBR ?

Currently trying for 1700MHz @ 7-7-7-18.. got it to stop crashing as soon as I run p95, thats a start :P

I've spent all morning trying to get over 425fsb but my nb just gets too damn hot. I just found out that my water kit is going to take another month to get here from canada :/

Hdchopper can't you just use a recovery program to get your data back?

I feel your pain, i've been waiting for something like a month and a half for my 4870x2's to arrive.

ya eye chop em up all right :ROTF:
thats why eye got 4 copies on 4 different size hard drives dont see any reason to raid yet until luck hands me a SSD

dont really know what happened that time sub timeings were all off failed memtest closed it and let it idle for 30 min and then nutten had mouse but nutten worked rebooted and wont go it to windows just locks up on welcome screen even with my goto ram for reboots

just gonna wipe it and copy back on it from 1 of the other 4 :D
love copy commander over ghost

Acronis ?? gonna look that one up thanks Nosfer@to

Proly need to increase NB volts too...I found 4x1GB easier than 2x2. Also, many issues with TRFC set too high on this board, at least for me with these HCF0 GSkills, I got Micron sticks that are not the same in this regard...

hmmmm might be that you hit the save button in memset?
happend to me once, itll apply the memory timings you were using back then everytime windows starts and it would crash my system everytime windows loaded :D made me go WTF??? until i booted in safe mode and saw that memset always had the tweaked mem timings as soon as i started it :D

and yes, i also noticed that too high trfc causes issues, weird eh?

Np. it's not weird that the board actually changes things when you hcange them in bios...BlackOps is just sensitive like most boards should be.

oh your playing at the trfc not sticking on some boards eh? :D

Honestly, I don't know why things are so different; I'm not sure who is doing "the right thing"; but the differences are glaringly obvious. Common sense, to me, says BlackOps is right, but I'm no expert.

tRTP has strange behaviour for me, memset show it @ 2 values higher than what i set in bios

mhh i dont wanna trash talk :D
im glad you like the way the blackops does things in this regard :)

thats normal and happens for several timings actually.
increasing one step in bios for some timings sometimes results in increasing 2 steps in memset etc.

i asked felix88, the programmer of memset, and he explained that the memory timings are not 100% clear defined... some timings are a combination of several sub timings. so if you want to change a timing you can set it to 8, but the ACTUAL timing will be 8+2...

the problem is that you cant differentiate this in windows, its not possible to read the sub timings individually, so he can only display the final timing which is actually a combination of that timing and another timing.

hope you understand what i mean, and i hope i actually understood herve and am not brabbling some bs :D

yep thats what happened saaya these 8888dominators are really stranmge if left on spd without nivida chipsets nothing comes out right
even according to corsair's whitepapper for them
intel chipsets dont read them correctly so ya eye was saveing my last settings to see if reboot would work thier

thats why thiers 4 hard drives setting here to swap out

saaya
10-08-2008, 08:24 PM
yeah, they are only guaranteed to work on nvidia 680 boards or something, right?
hmmm they should work on other boards too... they might just clock a tad lower but they should clock more or less the same... hmmm

ya so far 1069 out of em at cas 4 will do cas 3 at 945 also but haveing a hard time getting corsair to tell me what to set sub timeings at cause setting spd in bios sets 4-5-5-5-15 and sub's to match so when eye set cas 4 then all the sub's are to tight ya eye know doesnt make sence huh

but never give up is the call of the day around here :D

anyone else using G Skill PI sticks on blackops?

when fsb was at 500x8 i could only have a mem divider of 1.4 (333)
However when 450x9 i could only have mem divider at 1.2 all the others would give LED post error 54..... Strange?
So the memory either ran about about 1400 or 1800.... cannot get it to run at specified settings of 1600... very odd i thought btw - im overclocking E8400

Negev have you tried playing with the tRFC? I found that my overclocks are more stable when I tighten it instead of loosening it. Worth a shot I guess?

sometimes error 54 just comes up when you change the memory divider, but if you try it with a cold boot it works.
or maybe its a strap thing, i think 1.2 is bound to another strap which might not work well for you... if thats the case then you could do a pin mod on the cpu to make it pretend to be a 266 333 or 400 strap cpu :D
