Does anyone know anything about TV Cards? There are just so many to choose from and I don't know which one I'm supposed to get! I want to be able to
- watch HDTV (1080p)
- record it aswell
- watch freeview
- the radio would be quite nice to have aswell

I'll be using the system in my sig if that helps you at all. If you need to know anything else then just say =]

Thanks :D

Hi mate,

Terrestrial freeview 1080p isn't available in UK yet ( I think aussies have true HD freeview already although I'm not 100% sure).

I heard that when it does get introduced, the current crop of DVB-T cards won't be up to it.

The 2 I have (in my sig), work with XP MCE, Vista 32 and 64.

The perfomance is better/faster, (channel changing/scanning) with 64bit OS.

As I have 2, I can record 1 show whilst watching another or record 2 shows whilst watching a recording.

There are dual tuner cards available which function as above utilising one slot on your mobo.

There are some freeview radio channels available apart from FM/AM. Mine only have the former.

Look here as a starting point http://tiny.cc/eY2JJ

A great bargain but remember it's OEM.....no remote. I use the Microsoft remote myself, found on fleabay under MCE remote.

Hope this helps and let us know how you get on. Wes

Can I pause and rewind etc with that TV tuner wez? Also would I be best getting a remote or would a keyboard be fine? Bluetooth media keyboard of course.

I always recommend Black Gold GDI, they are the king of TV cards IMHO

Am using Cinergy 2400i DT
It has dual tuner and compatible with MCE and vista.
You can record and watch another channel at the same time.

Yes mate, you can pause, rewind, time shift. A keyboard works ok, best thing to do would be to get the TV card first and try it with the keyboard and if you feel a remote would be better, you can get one after.
